St James Hotel

We had a wonderfully comfortable two-night stay here. Before booking, I read some reviews mentioning that the standard rooms were a bit small, so we decided to stretch our budget and go for the Four Poster Suite, and it absolutely worths every penny. The hot whirlpool bath was spotless, spacious, and clearly cleaned with great care. We had accidentally used a bath bomb that left some dark residue, and we were unsure what to do, but the next day, it had already been completely cleaned without us even mentioning it. Housekeeping is truly top-notch. Breakfast was excellent, and the orange juice was honestly the best I’ve ever had at any hotel. All the toiletries were from The White Company, which smelled amazing and felt luxurious. In addition to the usual shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion, they even provided a complimentary pillow spray for better sleep! What a heartwarming touch. The location is also fantastic, with just a one-minute walk from Nottingham Castle. I’ll definitely consider staying here again next time I’m in town!

This hotel was an okay option, not the best but not the worst. We were a little surprised that there was no air conditioning and with the windows open we were welcomed by lots of loud voices outside throughout the night. If you have a rental car, the garage next door was convenient. The rooms were clean, but could use some updating. Overall, a fine stay but nothing out of the ordinary.

Stayed here a few times mostly because it’s great value! This time 7/9/25 it was difficult to find the entrance from the NCPCar park as there were barriers everywhere, maybe some signage would help? The room was fab in every way except ….. there is no Air Con and it was very warm so a fan was provided. The fan …. Well … loud doesn’t come close! Sadly, little sleep was had! We will return with our own fan
