We stayed to visit our son who will start university soon. Great location, close to the center but also quiet. Parking available at £9, which is cheaper than most hotels. Our room was clean, breakfast very nice. Hotel needs an update, however speaking with the staff, it has already started. We will come back again when returning.

Alison was absolutely lovely. Fantastic location, great rooms and bath. Yes, it’s a little dated but also much more spacious than a lot of other hotels. I keep coming back here! Thanks so much

Last minute booking. Delightful quaint hotel, I could even bring my dog! Staff saved me by accommodating. Tried their restaurant and it was great food, service again fantastic. Breakfast room spacious and plenty choices. So glad I came here with Nuffy!

I stayed two nights in this lovely hotel. The Rutland hotel is situated on a quiet, leafy, attractive road on the outskirts of Sheffield, a short drive from the centre, the hotel has its own bar or there are many other alternatives nearby. The check in was effortless and quick, being greeted by a very friendly, welcoming lady on the front desk. The room itself was comfortable and well appointed with a double bed, ample storage space, tea and coffee making facilities and a t.v. The en suite bathroom was good with a rainfall shower and plenty of hot water. The breakfast room offered a wide choice with both full English and continental breakfast, brought to our table by very friendly and helpful staff. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Rutland to anyone visiting Sheffield.

Our stay in the Rutland Hotel was a little disappointing, unfortunately. The hotel itself is quite old and although calling it rundown wouldn't be appropriate, it could do with some renovations and enhancements. The room was not ideal. The facilities were okay and the design wasn't awful but there were issues. When we arrived we noticed the toilet hadn't been properly cleaned and although we'd been given a kettle and coffee, we had no mugs provided. There was also a dead woodlouse on the floor. The bed was quite uncomfortable and there were no plugs by the bed which isn't a major issue but it can be frustrating in our now very technology focused age. It might be an issue with my capabilities but the shower also wouldn't get hot, which was annoying. Early in the morning, the toilet was also gurgling for an extended period of time, which was equal parts worrying and irritating. None of this would be overly problematic had the price not been £100 for the night, which is far too much. Although the prices of everything have risen over the past couple of years, this hotel should not cost that amount and the price has influenced the review rating given significantly. This was booked in September too, so wasn't affected by late notice. The hotel served it's purpose but did nothing more than that, and I wouldn't say it was a pleasant experience. We wouldn't return here, especially with the determined pricing.
