About Venue
Nestled in the heart of the picturesque Surrey village of Ripley, The Talbot stands as one of the country’s most storied and historic coaching inns. Boasting many period features from throughout its 500-year history, as well as the benefits of an extensive contemporary refurbishment, our 43 bedrooms stand alongside extensive meeting and conferencing facilities, in addition to summer gardens and a large terrace.
Conveniently located just 30 minutes from Central London, The Talbot was once a frequent hitching post for Lord Nelson, and is even said to be the site on which his love affair with Lady Hamilton blossomed. Nowadays we are known as one of the foremost inns in the region, retaining our position as a welcoming site for weary travellers, with a cozy bar and outstanding restaurant.
The Wisley Suite is our largest room and can hold up to 80 guests banqueting or 120 theatre style. This room also comes complete with an integral LCD projector with screen and an AV system.

We decided to go to The Talbot for a last minute dinner. With pleasant enough weather we were able to sit outside and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere on the sunny terrace. We were served by Emma and Fin who did a great job. I chose the sea bass for main course which was absolutely faultless. My husband had fish and chips which he said was perfect. All in all a lovely evening.

I was at my nieces wedding here last week and it's such a a great venue for a wedding. The rooms are lovely, staff are amazing and breakfast is great, such a quant and beautiful place to house a wedding, it's an old coach house and is surrounded in a beautiful wood setting and there's so many places around to visit and shop also, Christina the wedding planner was one of the nicest people I've ever met.

Popped in for a quick stop. Didn't know what to expect as never been before. Very elegant place but they really made us feel welcome. Good coffee to.

Good potential but let down with basics such as room cleanliness and customer service. Restaurant food was nice, however server cold so I had to send back, I orders a desert which took over 15 mins to arrive so I had to cancel, and the breakfast was not very nice at all, all luke warm. The receptionist came across unapologetic and sharp when checking out as their was missing details on the booking for my business meal allowance, a simple apology might have helped.

Very disappointing all round. Main hotel is shabby and unloved. I dread to think how long the carpets have been down. Bedroom was satisfactory although we had to get the cleaner back to clean bathroom as there were hairs in the shower and wee and toilet roll in the toilet. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned. We went for a beer in the garden, but were moved on as the garden was apparently reserved for a wedding. We felt quite unwelcome !! Slept well in comfortable bed, but in the morning were faced with a most unpleasant experience. I can’t comment on the taste of the cooked breakfast as I didn’t eat any of it. My partner said edible at best. We are here for a 2nd night, but we are going somewhere else for breakfast tomorrow, which says everything !! Just got back from a lovely walk in the local area to be told by housekeeping that they won’t get to our room today. Just avoid The Talbot if you have any sense !!
