About Venue
You might call us a country hotel; you might call us a village-style retreat set within a 400 acre private estate; you might even call us the gateway to a world of outdoor adventure. Whichever; we call it The Fish – and we think you’re going to like it.
This is a new kind of country hotel. We’re affordable but not budget, stylish but not pretentious, and outdoorsy but just as happy to stay in and put our feet up by the fire. The Fish is your back-to-nature bolt-hole with a little touch of luxury.
A popular meeting room on the first floor of Springfield House for up to 70 delegates (theatre style). Delegates love the fact that the Granary Room has floor to ceiling glass doors along one side, flooding the room with natural daylight. Just across from the coffee lounge. This room also has the option to interconnect with another meeting room.

Wow! From the moment you enter the long drive you known you’re in for a treat! Every member of staff we spoke to were so friendly and helpful, our dog was made as welcome as we were! The room (stable block) was beautifully appointed with everything both we and our dog could need. The wine tap Outside our room with credit was a real treat! The grounds are beautiful and we really enjoyed following hen nature trail around it and our dog had fun in the agility course! Lunch, dinner and breakfast was had and all Meals were delicious with plenty of Choice. We loved it here and are planning our next visit already.

I recently stayed here for my birthday with my two young children and our dog, and it was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The hotel was spotless, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was both child- and dog-friendly. We immediately felt welcome and comfortable, which made our stay so enjoyable. The hotel goes above and beyond for dogs — with beds provided both in the room and at dinner, water bowls and treats available throughout, and lots of useful information about local walks and activities. We enjoyed the on-site nature trail and were lucky enough to spot deer along the way. There were lovely touches for the whole family, from the pick ’n’ mix station that delighted my son to the wine vending machine for adults. Overall, a beautiful hotel with excellent attention to detail. We are already planning to return next year and I would highly recommend it.

From the moment my husband Stuart and I first visited The Fish back in October 2023, The Farncombe Estate quickly became one of the most special places in our lives. We went on to get married at Foxhill Manor, their sister hotel just up the hill, in July 2025. We booked our most recent visit (mid November) very last minute (literally the day before check-in). Despite the short notice and a small glitch on the website — it hadn’t automatically asked if we were bringing dogs, even though I had noted it in the comments — the team couldn’t have been more supportive or accommodating. They solved the issue immediately and with absolute warmth and ease, and this was picked up before check in. The staff, as always, were outstanding. I want to give a special mention to Kate or Katie (sorry for not remembering exactly!) who was working in the restaurant and bar areas. She was consistently lovely, smiley, attentive and made us feel genuinely looked after. Another huge thank you goes to Aggie (apologies if I’ve spelt that incorrectly). She was incredible - warm, friendly, genuinely welcoming, and so good with our dogs, who can sometimes be a little reactive. She took the time to speak with us, clearly cared about the experience we were having, and made us feel completely at home. She’s an absolute credit to the team. As always, the standard of cleanliness, the food, the atmosphere - everything - was exceptional. I honestly couldn’t speak any more highly of The Fish or anyone who works there. The Farncombe Estate will forever have a special place in our hearts, and this was yet another wonderful stay to add to the memories. We can’t wait to return hopefully in the spring of 2026.

We recently stayed at the Fish hotel in a dog friendly studio room in the "Outhouse". The room was well appointed and comfortable with high quality bedding and toiletries. Dinner (and breakfast) was delicious with the attentive staff catering for my wife's (reasonably complex) dietary issues in a way that was both efficient and imaginative. It's a gorgeous setting and we and our dog loved our time there. Not a cheap location. But a wonderful break if you wish to be spolit
