Our family of four had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Mercure in York. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was fantastic, clean, comfortable, and perfect for a family. The location is excellent too, making it really easy to get into the city centre to explore all the sights. We also loved the food as it was fresh, delicious, and really exceeded our expectations. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, professional, and a credit to the hotel. The only downside was witnessing a man named Aaron, who we believe is part of the management team, speaking to staff in a very unpleasant manner. It was uncomfortable to see, especially as the rest of the team were so warm and hardworking. That said, our overall experience was amazing, and we would happily stay here again. A brilliant family hotel in a beautiful city.

We had the loveliest stay at the Mercure in York as a family of four. The hotel was beautiful, our room was spotless and so comfortable, and it felt like such a welcoming space for us all. The location couldn’t have been better just a short car/taxi ride into the city centre, which made exploring York so simple. The food was another highlight; everything we tried was delicious and beautifully presented. What really stood out though was the staff. Every single person we met was so kind, helpful, and genuinely warm. They made us feel completely looked after throughout our stay. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting York, and we’d love to come back again as a family. It was such a memorable and happy stay.

Really nice old hotel with loads of charm. Lovely and clean. Staff lovely. Reception area and the grounds are beautiful. I saw a deer 🦌 this morning with my grandson when we went for a walk around the grounds. The rooms are nice and comfy. The floors are a bit creaky and some of the furnishings are a bit dated but that's all part of its charm. I have been there a few times and will be back for more.

Good location, just a short drive from York city centre. Quiet, plenty of free parking and nice grounds. The main reception and bar areas have been refurbished. However, the bedrooms (at least the one we stayed in) are in need of refurbishment as well. Nothing bad but showing their age. Bed was large and comfortable.

We chose to stay here as a base location whilst in Yorkshire. The staff were ultra friendly and courteous moving us to another room at our request. There was however a number of points needing to be said . 1. Bathroom...The door handle was very loose and we felt unsure as to whether we could possibly get locked in. There were loose tap fitments along with no handrail to get into and out of the bath , which was being used as a shower. The water when showering did not run away down the plughole so subsequently you stood in up to 1 foot of water . Highly unsafe. Bed whilst being extensive in size was rather hard to lie on. The tea / coffee facilities were provided with milk cartons that were unfortunately sour and curdled milk. The bed head did not extend the length of the head of the bed. Cups and glasses did not seem to be refreshed daily. Room was not hoovered either. On the last day no towels were provided for me as had been the case on the previous days. Above all whilst in a nice location thee hotel did seem in need of some refurbishment as it looked tired and dated.
