Middletons Hotel, nestled in the heart of York’s city centre, is the perfect setting for your memorable wedding day. Middletons Hotel has recently been taken over by the Thwaites brand, with exciting new prosepects but still with the Middletons character this could be the perfect venue for your small intimate wedding.
The hotel, set in beautiful secluded courtyard gardens, features six historic, grade II listed buildings. As well as making the most of the gorgeous gardens, you can enjoy the views by the River Ouse and Clifford’s Tower, which provide stunning and unique backdrops for your wedding photos. Across the six buildings, Middletons has 56 well-appointed bedrooms to offer any overnight guests.
Whether you are planning a grand celebration, or a more intimate event, the unique rooms provide the perfect setting for any wedding. We hold a licence for civil ceremonies and partnerships, so you can hire our function spaces for as long as you need.
We can accommodate up to 40 guests for your romantic ceremony and wedding breakfast, and up to 60 for your evening reception.
When you plan your wedding at Middletons, our personal wedding co-ordinator, will work closely with you to ensure you have your perfect day. Every detail of your wedding will be hand-crafted to suit you, ensuring everything runs smoothly and you enjoy every single moment.

This hotel is in walking distance to all the attractions in York - also the railway station. I stayed two nights and the room was very comfortable and nice. The staff was friendly - and there is a relaxed atmosphere. I would also recommend it if your travelling solo. There's a nice lounge at the reception.

I wish I could live here! I stayed in one of the cottages and it was such a lovely experience with wonderful amenities and a really caring and helpful staff team (special thanks to Elizabeth for all of her support at the front desk). The gym was a particular highlight in addition to the eggs royale for breakfast. Overall, it was a great experience and I would love to visit again!

What a great find! York has many, many hotels but this one is highly recommended. The location is great, just inside the city walls over the river from Clifford's Tower. You can walk to any part of the city with ease. The rooms are comfortable, spotlessly clean and very quiet. The staff were all lovely: warm, friendly, attentive. The bar is nice with plenty of outside seating too. And, unusually, it has a car park!

Perfect location and hotel had lots of little touches which make it special. The only reason we did not give it a 5 for rooms was the net curtain was ripped, the bedding, did not fit the bed properly and when we arrived there were black hairs and fluff on it. The staff were amazing, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Wonderful hotel. Wonderful staff, though not enough of them. Great food at affordable, competitive prices. Lots and lots of comfy seating inside and out. Gorgeous setting and gardens. The only downside was the size of our room. They called it their Standard Room, 3m x 4m - tiny. Tiny bathroom, very, very limited toilet space and a shower so small I couldn't get down to wash my feet. And expensive - £345 for just 2 nights. Very few free toiletries, the ones you come to expect in 4 star hotels, and generally get.
