My husband and I stayed here in Oct 2025. The hotel is in a perfect location next to the train station and just a 5 minute walk to the busy centre of York. The hotel has superb decor keeping its tradition from when it was built. Everyone was so helpful & kind going out of their way to help. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. Cesar and his team were so attentive making sure all the guests had everything, from a fully stocked choice of hot and cold breakfast to clearing and cleaning the tables. The evening meal menu looked lovely although we didn’t eat there due to our plans. Our room had a nice view of the garden. Our room was cleaned daily and refreshments replenished. We would stay here again even visiting York.

We stayed here for a night while stopping off in York and didn’t want to leave! A beautiful old historic hotel with big rooms, most comfortable beds and spotless bathrooms. We also used the spa facilities and had a swim and a sauna which was a bonus. Perfect location in the centre of York everything in walking distance. Will definitely be back!

We had a great stay at this historic hotel, conveniently located near the train station and a short walk to York Minster and the rest of this beautiful city. The staff on reception were very helpful, the room was spacious and had everything we needed. I'm not usually a fan of buffet breakfasts, but Cesar was very welcoming and there was plenty of choice. We will definitely stay here again.

This is our 5th stay at the Milner, we discovered it last year as a last mini getaway and each visit has been beautiful. The hotel is very convenient for the station and being able to store your luggage there before and after check in is super helpful and convenient of travelling by train. We have stayed in several of the different rooms and on one stay were upgraded free of charge to a suite. All the rooms are beautiful and amply meet your needs with luxurious bathrooms. We have eaten in the dining room for breakfast and evening meal; the food is delicious and a nice selection to choose from. The staff have been fantastic and always more than happy to help, nothing is too much trouble.

I stayed here on my 24th birthday. On arrival we struggled with parking as the hotel is also public parking and the carpark is quite small. I was given a free drink as a generous gesture, however this did not include cocktails etc only standard house alcohol which are limited to 125ml. Our room was located two lifts away and around 4min walk from reception, which had a sewage scent. Which a-lot of others noticed also. Our tv did not work but was fixed after several phone calls to the reception. This delayed our plans as the maintenance man was in our room. We later had to phone reception for the third time to ask for another iron as the one provided iron had leaked on our clothes for that evening. This caused a-lot of stress and also set us back on our schedule. Our roller blind in the room also did not work. The breakfast was nice, however not a lot of choice and no coffee machines only instant coffee and tea available. Great location downstairs stairs beautiful and full of character, however overall poor service and lacking basic amenities.
