About Venue

Hackness Grange Hotel is a 19th Century Grade II Georgian Manor which retains its traditional heritage and period features but keeps pace with modern times.

In keeping with its traditional style, is the decoration / refurbishment, and the hotel has undergone a significant transformation as well as ongoing works. The main manor house has been decorated maintaining a traditional feel whereas the Courtyard Rooms have been done in a more modern, contemporary way. We have however thought of those guests who may have difficulty in climbing stairs in the main manor house but would still like the traditional experience, and so have set aside two rooms closest to the manor house which have been decorated in the traditional way (Rooms 29 and 30).

The venue boasts a large purpose built functions facility that can house unto 200 delegates depending on seating style. We also have two bars (one is exclusive use to the function suite), separate entrances to the hotel, a restaurant (56 guests) and 17 acres of private grounds that can be used for leadership exercises. We also border the River Derwent with fishing available, subject to T&C's

The Johnstonne Suite is a purpose built function suite that is suitable for many different types of occasions. The room can hold easily unto 200 delegates theatre style with many different options and numbers available. It has its own private bar, private entrance as well as stunning views across the hotel grounds. Incorporated into the room is a mic/speaker system and projector/screen set up. Set within 17 acres of private grounds and bordering the River Derwent (with fishing available), we are a superb venue for conferences and team building exercises.

    My daughter had her wedding here and it was a perfect day in the most gorgeous setting. From first visit to the actual wedding all staff were friendly, welcoming, helpful and happy to answer any questions. We were made to feel welcome and that the wedding was special. Food was delicious and plenty of it from canapés after the ceremony to breakfast the next day. Different dietary needs were catered for and guest who is celiac wanted to tell the staff how pleased he was to be properly served his gluten free dinner (which he had taken to the venue himself due to severe dietary restrictions but was plated and served alongside the rest of the meals). Vegetarian loved his meal. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Hackness grange, just need someone else to get married so we can go back!

    We are unsure if words could possibly do justice to how thoroughly appreciative we are of the amazing staff at Hackness Grange, but we’re going to try anyway! From the very first meeting with Philippa we were made so feel so welcome and comfortable at the venue. It was made entirely clear that our wedding was just as important to their team as it was to us and that no effort would spared in ensuring that we had the day of our dreams. Our wedding coordinator Charlotte was an absolute angel and deserves the highest praise known to man for the sheer enthusiasm and fun she brought to both our planning and to the day itself. She is a massive credit to the venue and we really could not have asked for a more attentive, thoughtful, clever, creative kind and charismatic coordinator. The best wedding hype girl ever, we absolutely believe that if every event had a Charlotte to plan it, there would only ever be perfect parties! Everyone from the bar staff to the table waiters were so lovely and the chef is incredible! it really takes a lot of skill and talent to create meals that everyone loves and raves about; every single one of our guests was thrilled with what they ate and was highly complimentary! Massive thanks to the wonderful Beth who took over from Charlotte when our evening reception began, she was so attentive and kind, we really appreciate how professional and thoughtful she was, especially with keeping us on track for the evening and securing us chicken nuggets! We literally would not have changed a single thing about our day or the support we received from Hackness Grange in the planning process. The communication was fantastic all the way along, we loved that we were able to come up for a testing menu prior to choosing our wedding breakfast, everything has been an absolute dream. It is abundantly clear in every element of Hackness Grange, from the team to the venue itself, that they just love what they do. We would recommend any prospective couple to book a wedding with Hackness Grange, for not only a gorgeous wedding day but for a fully supportive and stress free wedding planning experience too!     As we celebrate our first anniversary, we’ve found ourselves looking back on our wedding day at Hackness Grange with full hearts and the biggest smiles. From the moment we first arrived, we knew this was where our story would be told; the rolling grounds, the charm of the house, and that magical sense that this was where our special memories would be made. On the day itself, everything felt like a dream. Our guests were blown away by the beauty of the setting, the warmth of the atmosphere, and the most incredible food (which they’re still talking about a year later!). Every detail felt personal, thoughtful, and completely “us.” Charlotte, our wedding coordinator, was the calm in the whirlwind. Always greeting us with a smile, she somehow managed to bring every little detail of our vision to life effortlessly. Daisy was our steady hand, quietly making sure everything was just as planned, even staying late into the night on the terrace after a long shift so we could soak up every last moment. And then there was the kindness. When my grandad became unwell, the compassion shown by the team was nothing short of remarkable. They cared for him and for us in a way that went beyond service. Looking back, we wouldn’t change a single thing. If we could, we’d relive it exactly as it was, over and over again. To anyone thinking of booking their wedding at Hackness Grange, our advice is simple: don’t hesitate: this place, and these people, will give you the day of your dreams.
