Beautiful place to stay! We stayed in very comfortable 2 bedroom lodge/house. Kitchen well equipped including dishwasher and washing machine. Large table in the dinning room. Very comfortable beds and large bathrooms. Place very clean all together. Kids loved the ducks by the pond and chickens in their own very cute little house. I loved the sound of the nearby stream and birds singing in the morning. Great place to stay. Hassle free, I highly recommend this holiday stay.

    January 2024

Visited on Boxing Day , booked 2 lodges for 2 families for 3 nights. Paid premium rates due to holidays. The staff were absolutely rude, entitled and unhelpful at multiple occasions. They made mistakes, gave wrong information, did not accept when challenged, and were unapologetic for their conduct. On arrival, the receptionist told us they didn’t have two lodges next to each other for us, despite having made the request 2 weeks ago. A lot of back and forth, she didn’t call any supervisor despite requesting. We then accepted our keys and started to leave for the lodges. Strangely, one of us received a welcome pack with our name on, while the other family just got a key card with a post-it note stuck on it which said our lodge number. A kind guest observed this, they had come back to reception after checking in as their key card wasn’t working. Their lodge was next to one of ours so they offered to exchange. We thanked them, and saw that their welcome pack had our name. So we were allocated lodges next to each other but the lady had just given it to someone else! Next day; we saw the usual ‘do not disturb / clean my room ‘ card in the lodge so put it on the door (toddlers made some mess in dining area). Not cleaned until afternoon (though weather was bad that day). I just went to reception to ask if they can sort it. Was told they need 24 hr notice to clean and charge £50 for the clean. I challenged them, stating it wasn’t mentioned in Ts and Cs. I wouldn’t want to go on an expensive holiday with toddlers and having to clean ourselves. Again, they persisted. When asked to show on their website, they spent next 10 minutes searching through the website and found nothing. Then they asked their manager who agreed for a clean the next day. All this while, sense of entitlement and lack of empathy; unapologetic at all time. Other minor instances as well where the staff were confidently incorrect over their ‘festive events’ with different people giving conflicting statements. Overall, bad weather retreat with little to do outdoors and depended heavily on their in-house facilities but left disappointed with the entitled attitude of the staff.
