Our first stay at this large/sprawling Mercure hotel, it's quieter than the Haydock Ibis and less busy than the town centre Mercure. 🤷🏻‍♂️ The room had a wee entrance hall with bathroom and was a generous size / mostly spot-on, slightly warm (not sure how much difference the air con made 🤔) and well-equipped. 👍 Only complaints were (1) initially gloomy bathroom with no mirror light, but that was fixed the next day 👌 and two (of four) mornings the shower was warm but not hot as the boiler had tripped; that was fixed each time the next day and they're in the process of adding four more boilers. 👏 Staff were friendly and helpful, grey squirrels in the surrounding grounds, we will stay again 👍 -but hopefully in the one room with a walk-in shower (I'm disabled and over-bath showers aren't ideal for me). 🤷🏻‍♂️👨🏻‍🦯

Much better than expected. Nice decor and layout. Rooms are great by comparison to others. Shower was excellent. Breakfast was a well presented, buffet style with everything you could want for the day. Would definitely stay again.

Had a lovely afternoon tea sandwiches and cakes were delicious and plentiful - just what you want on an afternoon tea! The leisure facilities though could do with a little bit of an upgrade in my opinion. The hot tub was over full which made it difficult to sit in, the plastic grid cover (don't know how else to describe it!?) was broken and there seemed to be a crack in the step. The pool area is also quite small and there was only a handful of people (maybe 6 adults) and it felt too full to swim in. Overall the facilities were usable but not great.

Went recently for spa facilities and afternoon tea. Swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna all good. It could do with a little lick off paint in swimming area and a change of some ceiling tiles. The restaurant area for afternoon tea was very nice. I would happily go again.

Great staff! Rooms need decent lighting especially the bathrooms. Impossible to put your make up on in there
