Overnight break while doing a North to South journey. Service excellent both reception and restaurant. Food good though a bit pricey Definitely use again if we do this trip again

The staff were friendly and very helpful, especially the restaurant staff, as they helped sort my dietary needs. The food was excellent. The room was very nice, clean and spacious, there was also plenty of free parking. I would definitely Stay here again.

Just got back from a week away in Scotland. We just stopped here as its half way to Kent. Went to have dinner and first of all prices are great to be honest! Ordered my Rump Steak Medium and it was bloody amazing! It was so good that I've actually ordered a Rib Eye one as well! Well done to Dan Chef and Abi at the bar! Smashed it. Best steak I've had this week! Thank you very much!

Lovely hotel. We stayed one night with our children due to a family party in the area. The staff are so lovely and helpful. The next morning for breakfast it was really busy with coach trips not the staff member on duty was so nice and explosions we could sit in the bar area and set out up for us i didn't get his name but he was spanish (I think) he was so helpful and even came back to check on us to make sure everything was OK. The room was lovely but the only issue was the window didn't open and it was so hot. The family room was well stocked and the boys loved having the big food out double couch bed.

I would not recommend the Mercure Haydock Hotel for couples. It resembles more of a coach holiday accommodation, with a high volume of guests crammed into the property. Several amenities and items that should have been in the room were missing, and the room keys repeatedly stopped working on four occasions during my stay. While not a major issue in isolation, this necessitated multiple trips to reception, which quickly became inconvenient. Additionally, upon arrival at reception, there was often no staff present, and I had to knock on the office door multiple times to receive assistance. During my stay, the lack of air conditioning was a significant problem. The room was unbearably hot, making sleep difficult felt more like sleeping in a sauna. This greatly impacted the comfort of the stay, especially during the warmer weather. Regarding the food, it was mediocre at best primarily bar-style options such as pizza and burgers yet markedly overpriced for what was served. I ordered a pizza and a burger; both were edible but failed to impress. There was also steak on the menu, but after witnessing the preparation of the pizza, I lacked confidence in their ability to cook it properly, so I chose to avoid it. Overall, my experience was disappointing. Given these issues, I would not consider staying here again.
