Recently spent 4 nights here, the staff are really helpful but it is overpriced for what you get in accommodation. I think you're paying for the central location. The room we had was £145.00 a night and to be honest it was cramped and the room had not been cleaned properly. The silicone on the shower tray had black mould and there were cobwebs in the bathroom. I did complain and they offered to clean the room and have maintenance look at the scilicone. The cleaning was declined as we were unpacked and the only thing maintenance could do was remove the old scilicone and reseal it which would have put the shower out of commission for 24 hours, this I know as I know the building trade. We also requested tea, coffee and milk one morning before going out, we were informed it would be sent to the room. When we returned 8 hours later they had not sent it up. As we were going out for the night I reminded the receptionist that no tea or coffee had been sent to the room., the receptionist stated we don't send things up to the room you get them yourself from a cupboard. The following morning as I was going to the shop I was asked how my stay was going, I informed the front of house staff that I had stayed in better hostels and for a mid range hotel it was over priced and very poor. When we returned in the evening there was a bottle of wine in our room for all our troubles. The hotel is situated in a perfect area of Edinburgh but that's it, if you are into cramped over priced hotel rooms that have not been cleaned properly and self service for tea and coffee then this is the place to stay. Not a very good experience but the staff were nice except for the one who told me I had to get my own tea, coffee and milk from the cupboard.

Small room but very clean. Fantastic location. The Bottled water stank and the hand wash was half empty. I would stay here again because of the location.

Not true to their word. I had to cancel a prepaid reservation in March of 2020 because of covid. A lovely woman who worked there told me not to worry - that I could use the reservation at a later date when things settled down. I have this in writing, via email. We corresponded several times and she was always very nice and said not to worry. I just tried to book it and was told that she no longer worked there and basically too bad that the offer had "expired." Nowhere in my correspondences was there any word of an expiration date. So I'll be staying somewhere else. BEWARE - their word means nothing.

Many of the complaints people have made are somewhat justified, but probably overstating the issues. Location is great. They have central air conditioning in the rooms which is a huge bonus. Showers are good and spacious, but they definitely should replace the old caulking on a more regular basis. It looks bad. The bed was comfortable and we had one of the double suites which I think is a bigger room, so no issues there. European rooms are always smaller so I am not sure what people expect. The staff varied between friendly and accommodating, but fine either way.

Very original decoration in the room including a very useful map of the city with magnet markers to plan your visits. Genius idea! The location is fantastic, just at the beginning of Victoria Street aka the true Diagon Alley for you Harry Potter fans. Ver friendly staff. A recommended stay if you want to be in the heart of this amazing city that is Edinburgh. Limited breakfast options at the Irish pub next door but the food is tasty. the bar has a nice setting.
