Fantastic Rooms, immaculate and feature rich. TV, integrated speaker system that connects to your phone, lovely decor and a brilliant shower. Staff were really friendly and happy to help, they really added to the experience in even only my brief interactions with them. This place also seems to attract very friendly guests. I got a free upgrade on arrival, to a room much bigger than I needed, and they held my bag until check in time at 3pm with a tag and ticket system so it doesnt get lost/mishandled. Location is absolutely perfect, everything in Edinburgh that you might want to see is in walking distance from here. Its also situated in a very beautiful part of Edinburgh. The only downside is the parking. On the website they recommend the Castle Terrace NCP car park. This is an absolute rip-off car park and definitely do not go there. If you have a small car and are a confident driver, prebook the apcoa Spittal Street parking, its about a 10 min walk (same as NCP) and is 12.50 per 24hrs as opposed to NCPs 36! For larger cars find the Princes Exchange car park, its 18.50 for 24hrs no pre-book required and a 15 min walk. A much more comfortable car park to get in/out of with less hassle. Food and Drink is provided by an attached pub, but is run independently. Decent food for breakfast with fair offerings for the price, and very friendly staff as well.

This hotel worked perfect for our group. With an offer of double, triples and quads. Nobody was left out and we all had a great night's sleep. Rooms were clean, beds were comfy and the shower was lush. Great service and we could step through a door into the pub. Thank you for looking after us!

Really nice hotel with comfy beds and very friendly staff. Pub next door, but in my room on the 4th floor it was absolutely quiet. Location is really good - walking distance to all central attractions and the train station. Just make sure to take the route without stairs if you're travelling with luggage :D

This hotel is horrible. First off, the lift drops you off a million miles from your room and you will surely get lost as you transverse the winding hallways and clamber over the tripping hazards that are the bags of towels and linens strewn along the corridors. When you finally arrive at your room, you’ll see that it’s tiny. The double beds touch three of the walls so one person will have to climb over the other to get in and out. It’s roasting. The aircon is abysmal and the room is boiling and humid. You’d think opening the window was a good option? You’d be wrong. If you’re lucky enough to get the window to stay open, you’ll probably be met with a bug, a spider, or worse, a rat in the night after it climbs in from the window box or grassy ledge outside. The walls in our room were filthy. There was some sort of brown liquid running down the wall next to the head of whichever unfortunate person got the inside of the bed. Attention to detail is clearly not the cleaners forte. The bathroom door may as well not exist. The frosted glass door doesn’t latch and there are huge gaps at its sides. Did I mention the room is tiny? Good luck having any privacy… Last, and certainly least, the STENCH. As soon as we opened the door to our room we were hit with the worst smell of SEWER GAS. We had to run the water to hopefully clear the pipes which did very little to solve the problem. Luckily though, the smell of sewer gas was often over powered by the smell of MOULD. This hotel kindly offers a spare blanket, in case you get cold in the boiling hot room, and a complimentary tote bag. You cannot begin to imagine the smell of mould that has latched on to these garments. I assume the tote bag is complementary because you could not sell such a biohazard. We were miserable in this hotel. We felt dirty every second we endured there and for €225 euro a night I would expect A LOT more. I almost took the tote bag to feel like I got something for money but I value my health too much. It’s only saving grace is the location but you can find better close by. I cannot stress enough that you NEED TO AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS! Save yourselves a miserable few days here!
