Well on the down side, the toilet seat was very loose and reception were alerted , they said it would be sorted the following morning, never happened! The following morning the shower tray was filling with water, it was then that I removed the trap to discover it was blocked by and looked as if it had never been cleaned, this despite fact that the hotel had recently been renovated. There was Grouting missing on the tiles, in all it was not a good look. The receptionist did what she could and photographs I took were forwarded to the management. Never did get a satisfactory explanation.

Asked to book me in for a meal told me I could get casual dining at the bar, then was told at the bar she'd check if I could get food, she never came back, asked after a drink what was happening to get told I could only get popcorn and nuts, not exactly casual dining. I was then told dinner was done and no more food. Thanks guys. On top of that my bedroom was clean in respect of the bed but the carpet was grimy and the shower seemed to go in waves of hot and cold. Safe to say I'll be avoiding in the future, not a great impression made guys

A lovely old fashioned Court house, which was clean and very comfortable. The gardens were well kept with plenty of seating outside. Staff were friendly and provided a good service. The reason I only gave it four stars was because although the food was tasty it was served lukewarm, and I like my food hot, also there were a lot of laundry bags left in the corridor on way to bedroom which is not a good look.

Our room was OK but the TV was ridiculously small and didn't work. I reported this to reception and was told that someone would look at it whilst we were at dinner. We were later told the TV had been replaced with a much larger one which was working perfectly. Half the channels still didn't work but we left it. On the whole the staff were great and I must give a special mention to Hayley on reception. She was very polite, very helpful and totally professional. That said it all went wrong at breakfast this morning. We were ignored or overlooked for 30 minutes. I had to attract the attention of one of the staff to take our order when a couple who came in about 10 minutes after us had their order taken and we were still sitting there waiting. Then I had to get up to speak with a member of staff when two other couples, who came in after us were happily munching toast when we still hadn't been served any food!! If it wasn't for this I would probably have marked the hotel 4 stars, rather than the 3 I awarded it.

Beautiful stunning old hotel with lots of character. Outside area also gorgeous. Good location for visiting local areas. Rooms clean and tidy although some could do with a little tlc but nothing major . Food absolutely lovely but try and book your seats in either restaurant or bar area as fills up quickly. ALL staff helpful,friendly and approachable a credit to the hotel. Would definitely stay again. lounge/bar area
