This 17th century Grade II red star listed building, with idyllic gardens, in a magnificent location opposite Ripon Cathedral makes The Old Deanery one of the most beautiful event venues in North Yorkshire.
Our historic building and grounds are exclusively yours for your event. From the front gate to the bottom of the gardens and everything in between – just you, your guests and our friendly staff.
We can comfortably seat 80 guests for a sit down meal, with a separate reception room, multiple break-out areas, & of course our stunning grounds & gardens, all yours to use as you wish. We also have 9 individually styled bedrooms for your guests.
Our small, experienced team are on hand to help with anything that you require, from creating table plans, setting up decorations or even looking after your pooch during your event - nothing is too much trouble for our team!

January 2024We’ve just been for a delicious Sunday roast at The Old Deanery. Food, wine and service all top notch. Three courses for £38 isn’t bad value at all given the quality. The dining room is light and airy but still cozy and had a lovely calm atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone.

December 2023We just had our wedding at The Old Deanery in October and I can't praise the venue and it's team enough. Rebecca and the dream team were so helpful throughout the whole process and were incredibly accommodating. They put our minds at ease and made our day so fantastic. The venue is beautiful, both inside and out. All the guests were well catered for and looked after. We also had A LOT of compliments from guests about how incredible the food was for both the main meal and nibbles. Many said it was the best food that they'd ever had at a wedding. And I would fully agree ! Thank you so much!
