Superb welcome, esp. reception and housekeeping staff. Room provided earlier than check in. Room very clean and comfortable. AC fine. Breakfast very good. ( scrambled egg odd colour and consistency?) Prices not cheap but not over the top. The hotel advertises lots of additional activities which are run as businesses of their own. So it didn’t feel like a hotel pool it was a free go in a health centre pool.

We attended a wedding here so stayed the night. The wedding food was very tasty indeed and good portions. The bar staff at the evening reception was slow and only one member behind the bar the whole night, so lots of waiting. The room was very old fashioned , basic and TINY. We could just about walk around the bed. Breakfast the next morning was very nice. In sunmary- food good, room basic and old fashioned

Avoid. 2 wk stay. Room not serviced twice. Told both myself and my wife our fault. Certainly was not. Unacceptable. Stiff staff 80% no people skills, unwilling to say good morning. Spa and grounds superb but not worth the pain. Avoid.

LIKE SLAPPING MAKE-UP ON A PIG Was really excited to come back to the hotel for our anniversary, especially because we held our reception here during the dreaded COVID era. Initially excited to see the refurbishments that were made but sadly it was a a paint over. Receptionist welcomed us with a big smile. We previously called to have a room as close to the lift due to mobility issues. Was told the main lift was being maintained so we would have a room as close to the service lift we can use at our disposal. Great to see that the lift was fixed and our room still allocated near to the lift. Was given Peep form incase for emergencies which was re-assuring. Was excited to be told the room also had a view of the garden. Surprised to see that it was more of the roof of the lounge. Wasnt an issue but doesn't need to be mentioned as a perk for the room. Better to say "quiet" room facing the garden. Get to the room and a lovely card with wine wishing us a happy anniversary ❤️ . The bedroom looked amazing, the comfy L-shaped corner sofa, the massive and comfy king bed tucked away on the other end of the room, it felt like a bougie studio apartment. Pretty handy to have one remote for both TVs(THATS RIGHT, 2 TVs in the room). "Massive" closet only to realise the wooden panel near the entrance is actually covering an area behind the closet, we didn't need to use the closet but it would have been plenty. USB ports on the bedside...BONUS. Bedside lamps... fidgety but pretty cool 😎. Bathroom was STUNNING; pearly white , the bathtub is massive, the shower was shiny, clearly refurbed...even seemed all brand new. The toiletries provided are probably the best I've smelt in hospitality EVER. Toilet awkwardly located in the corner behind the door... The doorstop positioned in an odd place. Should be fine as long as you have the lights on. Notice "wet" patches on the floor in the middle of the room to realise they weren't wet but probably residue from a stain or stain remover. Whilst using the toilet, fuzz from the extractor fan fell. Went to explore the grounds to reminisce and as before, the bar staff were BRILLIANT!!! Always polite and friendly. Decided to have dinner in the bar instead of the restaurant for this soul reason. Ordered the Lensbury Burger that did not disappoint; huge patty and crispy onion rings...worth every penny. The Cobb Salad was filling, regretted ordering it with chips but the chips were so good, we had to indulge. Atmosphere in the bar was peaceful and relaxing, that changed after 7pm which I believe the new Dunbar Lounge closes. Hats off to the staff handling the influx of members. Later in the evening we got back to the room and occasionally we would hear a drilling sound coming from the closet area. Inconsistently this sounds would occur throug out the night. Around 2 I had it and went to go for nicotine and passed by reception to let them know. Nick was empathetic and even offered to move rooms. Wasn't going to occupy another room and have housekeeping service it when we paid for one room for one night. The noise was clearly something that must have been reported given previous review and was not seen to. It was not fair for Nick to have to deal with the issue in the middle of the night and with the hotel apparently not being full recently, the room could have easily been put out of order until it was fixed. The hotel had a prestigious reputation; thrashing local rivals. Stayed here for the amazing staff and wedding nostalgia but sadly ruined by the lack of attention to detail and putting bandaids on issues the hotel really need to fix.Outside the entrance on the bench and in the corner of the hotel, every few minutes you hear this gurgling sound that sounds like a toilet having a really hard time flushing. Viplav at breakfast was a legend grabbing a more comfortable chair. Wasn't worth the nostalgia. The front office manager was extremely apologetic and did everything she could at the time. Requested update from GM about noise.

My wife and I stayed last night in a double room ,and my daughter had a single room. On arrival checking in took an age and he wanted to charge us twice !!! My daughters room had no working air conditioning, no bath towels ,sink was blocked. Our room had the radiator in the bathroom on full , the air-conditioning would not work or switch off and every 2hrs made the most intrusive loud noise it would wake us up. On reporting this to reception in the morning I was met with no apology...or a sympathetic response. Lovely restaurant with a brilliant waiter....not 4 star rooms by any stretch of the imagination.
