I did a staycation since I got tickets to see a band nearby; I’m always hesitant when it comes to hotels but this one is top notch. Clean, convenient & they have great options for food at Black Bird downstairs. The subway is close by as well & they have a small parking lot. The front desk representatives were awesome!

When we opened the door what a nice surprise greeted us - a nice room! It felt really nice. Bedding was luxurious, very updated, gadgets galore, complimentary wine was a nice touch. Restaurant below was super nice & cool. Thank you to Jonathan & Ricard for doing their best to find my friend's phone until I realized I had it in my purse the whole time.😒 You guys were great & took the time to help.

This place is very respectable for what it is supposed to be. The rooms themselves are very nice and the hotel is also nice. The neighborhood is conveniently located near a train station and there is plenty of stuff within walking distance. It can be a tad noisy, but you are in Brooklyn after all. The only thing holding me back from rating the service a 5 star was having to wait about an hour to check in when I got there. I would absolutely stay here again on my next trip to New York.

Came to this hotel for a two night stay as we were in town for a wedding that was being held at a much more expensive 5-star hotel that was a little out of my budget. This hotel definitely delivered!! Reading some of the negative reviews made me very nervous about staying here, but it ultimately depends on what your needs are, reason for staying, and length of your stay. I can't comment on the location convenience as I was there for a specific reason with a set schedule. But the area did feel safe and as clean as clean can be when talking about New York. We would arrive back to Hotel 42 at very late times and the area was very well lit. There is a secure parking lot that you do have to pay a little extra for, but I never needed to use this option as we were able to find street parking every time we would leave and come back. The lobby area was on the smaller side. Not a place you and your friends can hang out in like in some larger hotels. But has a very cool movie like screen running the entire length of the wall that cycles through many different scenes in motion of landscapes and waterfalls etc.. We didn't frequent the restaurant for meals other than complimentary breakfast one morning. There were more options than your typical "continental breakfast" which was a nice surprise. My only qualm was the food did not come out warm. The servers were definitely eager to help and attentive/communicative. I did not send my food back to be reheated as I felt this would be a bit dramatic, but the spicy bloody Mary made everything better! Our room was exactly what we needed it to be. Nothing more. Nothing less. Clean sheets. Comfy bed. Clean bathroom. There was some wall paper peeling in the corner all the way up by the ceiling but that really doesn't have any effect on how well a bathroom works! Again, let's save the dramatics! An iron and ironing board. TV that mainly stayed on for background noise. I didn't even notice the humming of the subway honestly until the morning I was leaving. I had to call the front desk a couple times and they answered immediately and delivered my requests within 10 min or less. (Side note: I did leave behind a speaker in room 205 and a necklace that has my grandmother's ashes in it that I need to call and see if they found.) The rooms have this cool touch screen pad that you can use instead of hanging those door hangers when you don't want to be disturbed or if you need housekeeping to make up your room. The rooms also have a doorbell instead of having to listen for someone to knock on your door. All in all I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again myself.

My boyfriend and I had a great stay at this hotel. The room was clean, cute, and modern. We loved the robes, the complimentary wine, and the remote blackout shade. The staff was nice, especially the restaurant staff at breakfast, they were all so great. I don't like to eat a huge breakfast, so the free breakfast option was perfect for me. The location near multiple subway stops was very convenient, and there were quite a few places in the area to eat. The only thing that was difficult was working the TV. It was not intuitive to us, but we weren't spending a ton of time in the room anyway. 100% would absolutely stay here again.
