Absolutely blown away by the amazing hotel. We stayed 1-4.3.24 to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. The hotel, grounds, spa faculties, location, food and staff were excellent - I enjoyed every minute of our stay and will be back soon. We stayed in room 101 which is a dog friendly room and I don’t think my dog wanted to leave; he enjoyed his long walks and visiting the ducks on the lake. Idyllic location and fantastic stay

I'll precursor my review in saying I am very happy with my stay and would certainly go back. I loved that the rooms are very spacious as are the hallways etc so manoeuvring a large dog is no problem (or buggies/suitcases). The two beds put together to make the double, as many hotels do, are really strapped together they will not be coming apart or falling in-between as I have had elsewhere and the rooms are very warm. However the mattresses were quite soft and being used to a very firm mattress it did take me a while to fall asleep as well as being used to finding a fridge in most hotel rooms be aware that there isn't one if you need dog food/baby food to be kept chilled. Although I would have loved to go for one of the posher suites, dogs are only allowed in specific rooms and whilst I appreciate them being ground floor and close to an exit for bathroom breaks, the minor repair work in our room/elsewhere in the hotel impacts atmosphere, as an example, there was a gap of missing carpet under the radiator, holes in the bathroom door where the hook has been moved, broken cap on the radiator, cracked TV remote, towel heater cap falling out of the wall etc. The grounds are spacious and very well looked after great if you'd like to stretch your legs or if you are staying with your dog. ALL of the staff are SUPER friendly every single encounter with staff was positive and when I left something in the room they posted it back to me absolutely no problem. The pool and jacuzzi are lovely and weren't very busy when I went and there are some loungers by the pool if you want to sit and read but the changing facilities aren't very luxury and the sauna and steam room quite small I wouldn't book it for a spa weekend but would certainly say its worth using if you are there. Its nice that you can have your dog with you in the bar area though the bar certainly lacks atmosphere and feels more like a waiting room. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, we ordered from the set menu portion sizes are great and whilst I enjoyed everything I had others in our party were underwhelmed and it came out very very quickly. Breakfast is better quality than you get in lots of hotels but wasn't kept very hot. In short, its excellent value for money and for the space, ease and kindness of staff I would absolutely come back but its a shame some minor things hold this place back what could be a really outstanding and luxury experience.

This is a beautiful old building, struggling to maintain its 3 stars. We stayed for a wedding, and I have to say that the service and standard of the wedding was 5 star. The food was great, at the wedding and in the hotel ( we had breakfast and dinner). The service in the rest of the hotel was awful. We had booked 3 rooms; ours and 1 each for my 2 daughters. When we arrived I paid for them all to save hassle for my daughters when they checked in. I happened to walk through reception to find my daughters having a stand up argument with the receptionist, who refused to let them check in until they proved that they had paid - embarrassing, ridiculous and totally unnecessary. When we arrived the room was very cold. We put the radiator on full but it just didn't warm the place. I had to get an electric heater. On the first morning we ran out of loo roll (no spares in the room). I went to reception and they couldn't get through to housekeeping. They yold me to take some from the gents for my wife to use. There was no toilet brush. There were no pillow protectors on the bed, which was ancient and uncomfortable. My daughter had ordered a cot, but it was so filthy that she refused to put her baby into it - baby had to sleep between them in bed. The hotel offers daily room service, but in practice it just doesn't happen. I went to reception to ask when our room would be serviced to be told that housekeeping are very busy because of the wedding. The maids came, but just dropped off clean towels - no servicing at all. They advertise 24 hour reception, but on the first night we called at reception to enquire about breakfast times but at 10am there was nobody about (after waiting for about 15 minutes)
