Set in the immense vaults beneath The Royal Exchange, The Libertine is the new home of indulgence in the heart of the city. Sitting on the site where the very first royal alcohol licence in Britain was granted, the space is steeped in hedonism and mischief.

The bustle and opportunity around the old Royal Exchange, built in 1571, attracted merchant, heralds and rogues from across the city and beyond. Once the day’s work was done (and often before), the assembled traders would partake of boisterous ‘tippling’ in the vaults under the Exchange.

The Libertine is a modern revival of those free spirited times, with spaces for drinking, dining and unwinding well into the night, away from prudish prying eyes.

What could be more festive than sitting around the table, surrounded by friends, laughing over plates of piping hot and carefully prepared food. The Libertine is home to a restaurant and a stunning private dining room, offering numerous options for special evenings.

The restaurant, which can seat up to 68 guests, and the private dining room, which can seat 16, are both available for private hire over the festive period.

We also have ‘The Whiskey Vault’, a stylish private space for up to 20 people standing which can be hired exclusively. Guests can book all 3 areas for larger events, with festive set menus as well as bowl and canapé dishes. Christmas has never tasted so good.

We are available for both semi-private bookings and full private hire over the festive period. We can host celebrations of up to 450 and will work with you to create a bespoke package that perfectly fits the needs of your event, whether it’s the whole company party or a more intimate gathering of friends and loved ones.

Spaces for hire include our private dining room, ‘The Whiskey Vault’ which can hold seated dinners and standing drinks events, as well as the main bar and restaurant areas

We had an amazing evening thanks to Will, he was extremely attentative and really set the atmosphere for our dinner with friends who we haven't seen in years. He made sure that everything was perfect and despite the many other tables he had to wait on, he always made time to check that we were all ok. It was my first time dining at The Libertine but thanks to Will I will make sure to come back again and also recommend others to visit too :)

Masterclass in food, service, and atmosphere. Celebrated NYE here and every dish was beautifully presented and tasted incredible. Our service throughout the night was attentive and helpful. We had the best table in the house and enjoyed the innate beauty of the building as well as the festive atmosphere surrounding us. What a memorable experience!

This place is absolutely worth every review such a cute gem in Bank and will be coming back often to try every dish on the menu! Ordered rhe scallops and market fish as main - wow! Just divine! Perfect for drinks dinner or both to please all! Friendliest staff and service was stop on time. 11/10 (and I'm picky as hell)

Starters are average but the tasting board of steak is above the par. We also tried the fish pie. Given its location, the bill is higher than expected when the flavor is not impressive enough. A bit noisy when it was crowded during peak hours if you try to have a conversation with people across the table. Not bad for business occasion.
