What’s included in the venue hire price?

Your booking gives you the entire Cinema 1 auditorium exclusively, roughly 280 fixed cinema seats all for your group. The hire includes use of the cinema’s state-of-the-art digital projector, the large cinema screen, and the surround sound system for your content. We also include a technician to run the projection and any microphones for introductions/Q&As. In addition, you’ll have access to the cinema’s private foyer for check-in or mingling before/after the screening.

Does the venue provide catering, or can I bring my own food and drinks?

Accepted Answer

We provide all refreshments via our in-house cinema bar and catering team. If you’d like popcorn, drinks, or canapés for your guests, we can set that up in the foyer, we have plenty of cinema-themed and reception options available. We don’t allow outside food or drinks in the cinema, but we’re happy to tailor a concessions package or even a post-screening reception as needed. From bespoke cocktails to coffee and pastries, we’ll handle it.

Can I decorate or brand the venue for my event?

Accepted Answer

You can add some branding, for instance, we can display your custom trailers or logo on the screen, and you can put pull-up banners or branding boards in the foyer area. Inside the auditorium, decor is limited (since it’s tiered seating in darkness during the show), but on-screen branding and perhaps small stage decor for any speeches are possible. Additionally, you could brand tickets or signage outside the cinema entrance. We’ll help ensure your event has a personalized feel even within the cinema setting.

Is the venue accessible, and does it have parking or nearby transport links?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Cinema 1 is fully accessible. There are wheelchair spaces in the auditorium and step-free access via lifts. The Barbican Centre has a car park that your guests can use (with direct lift access to the cinema level). And being in central London, we’re very easy to reach by public transport – Barbican Underground station is close by, and Farringdon/City Thameslink are not far either. Numerous bus routes also serve the Barbican.

What is the venue’s pricing structure e.g. minimum spend, dry hire, or package options?

Accepted Answer

We typically rent Cinema 1 on a flat hire fee for a screening or event. You pay a set price for the private use of the cinema for a certain time block (for example, a morning or an evening). The fee includes the space and basic projection support. Any catering (like popcorn, drinks) would be additional per head or as a package.
