Q: What’s included in the venue hire price?

When you hire this space, you gain exclusive use of both the Garden Room and the Conservatory. That means a modern, light-filled indoor room with floor-to-ceiling city views, plus our spectacular tropical Conservatory (full of plants and fish), all private and just for your event.

Q: Does the venue provide catering, or can I bring my own food and drinks?

All catering is handled by our on-site team. We have an in-house banqueting team (and approved caterers) who will provide food and drink to your specifications. External catering isn’t permitted in these spaces, but you’ll have plenty of menu options available through us, from formal dinners to cocktail receptions.

Q: Can I decorate or brand the venue for my event?

Absolutely – you can dress and theme both the Garden Room and the Conservatory as you wish. Our events team can even assist with things like theming, lighting, and table décor to bring your vision to life. (For any very large installations or unusual requests, we’ll just discuss details to make sure everything is feasible and works within the spaces.)

Q: Is the venue accessible, and does it have parking or nearby transport links?

Yes, both the Garden Room and Conservatory are fully accessible by lift (they’re on Level 3 of the Barbican Centre). We have on-site parking at the Barbican, and the location is superbly connected, Barbican and Moorgate tube stations are only a short walk away, and there are plenty of bus routes as well.

Q: What is the venue’s pricing structure e.g. minimum spend, dry hire, or package options?

This combined space involves a venue hire fee plus a minimum catering spend. Minimum spend starts from £5,000 + VAT

The Garden Room truly is a stunning catering area with a state of the art lighting scheme and floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Barbican Lakeside, St Giles Church and the cityscape of London. Please note this is the only space where amplified sound or music is permitted (until 11pm).

The spectacular Conservatory is a joy to discover, a hidden tropical oasis in the heart of the city which is home to exotic fish and over 1,500 species of tropical plants and trees. Protected by its glass roof it is suitable to be used in any weather condition and can accommodate up to 100 delegates for a standing fork buffet or 150 guests for a drinks reception.

The Barbican Centre a personal view! I would like to share my personal experience at the Barbican Centre. I live in London, and my closest multicultural arts centre is Southbank, so, to be quite honest, I tend to go there more often. However, recently I have been visiting the Barbican Centre more frequently, in various ways, from visiting the conservatory, to attending concerts with my family, and taking part in guided tours through the Barbican Estate. We have experienced many different activities there. I was curious to know more about this interesting place in London because, quite honestly, I am not very fond of Brutalist architecture. I don’t naturally connect with its harsh lines and concrete buildings. Nevertheless, I was really interested in learning more about it. I must say that the guided tour is exceptional, very enlightening indeed. The centre offers an incredible variety of activities. We particularly enjoyed the concerts. I love the Conservatory, although I feel it really needs some attention, and as the guide mentioned, it will soon close for refurbishment, which I personally think is very much needed. It is a beautiful place, but it has the potential to be even better. Overall, our experience at the Barbican Centre has been outstanding. Thank you for giving us the chance to experience so much joy and culture. The Baker Family
