The four star Montague on the Gardens Hotel combines the best of two worlds. In front is the British Museum and the hurly-burly of tourist London, whilst to the rear there's a serene private garden, cut off from the city by a rectangle of fine Georgian townhouses.

Between the two lies The Montague on the Gardens Hotel – an intriguing blend of up-to-the-minute city vibrancy and old-world Bloomsbury charm, where guests can expect British hospitality at its finest.


Featuring an excellent array of peaceful and exciting outdoor and indoor event spaces, as well as our seasonal pop-up concepts, The Montague Ski Lodge and The Beach Bar.

The award-winning Beach Bar at The Montague on the Gardens is an unforgettable summer party venue.

Complete with real sand, a beach-hut style thatched roof, delicious cocktails, palm trees, and a backdrop of a beautiful beach, you'll feel like you're basking in the Bahamas rather than in the heart of Central London.

To get you in the summertime spirit our chef serves a delicious range of BBQ options including meat, fish, and vegetarian/vegan dishes followed by a tasty line-up of tempting desserts including assorted ice creams in cones. Cocktails are served in coconuts on arrival, alongside a superb selection of wine, beers, and spirits. Guests also have the added option of unlimited drinks offers.

•The Beach Bar is open from 12th May - 26th September 2025.
It is available for private hire with two sessions available:
• Daytime slot: 12pm - 5pm
• Evening slot: 6pm - 10pm*
Please enquire with our team if you require a longer session, or if
you wish to merge the daytime and evening slots.

• Corporate bookings are welcome as are shared parties during evenings and weekends. The Beach Bar makes an ideal location to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, engagement, or to host a hen/ stag party. A minimum group size of 10 people is required to book the Beach Bar on a semi-private basis.

The flexible spaces can accommodate parties of up to 160 guests and the Great Russell Suite is available afterwards for DJ and dancing into the night, complete with a built-in dance floor and private bar.

Cancellation policy

6. Cancellation and cancellation charges 6.1 Cancellation of the booking of the Service shall be informed in writing by the Customer to the Hotel as soon as possible. 6.2 The Customer shall pay the following amounts for cancellation of the Service (the “Cancellation Charges”) if it cancels the booking under clause 6.1. Period prior to the date for which the event is booked when cancellation is informed in writing Cancellation Charges More than 4 months up to and including 12 months 20% of Anticipated Total Value of the Booking More than 1 month up to and including 4 months 50% of Anticipated Total Value of the Booking Up to and including 1 month 100% of Anticipated Total Value of the Booking 6.3 If the Hotel secures alternative booking which replaces the booking cancelled by the Customer and receives payment for such alternative booking in cleared funds, the Cancellation Charges will be reduced by the amount so received by the Hotel through alternative booking. The Hotel will either reduce the amount invoiced as the Cancellation Charges or, if the payment for such alternative booking is received after issuing the invoice for the Cancellation Charges, credit the Customer for the amount so received by the Hotel through alternative booking. 6.4 The Hotel reserves the right to cancel the booking if: (A) the Customer fails to pay the Rates or Deposit after they become due; (B) the Customer has previous dealing(s) with the Hotel and is more than thirty (30) days in arrears of previous payments due to the Hotel; (C) the Customer (being an individual) applies for an interim order or becomes subject to an individual voluntary arrangement or has a bankruptcy petition presented against him; (D) the Customer (being other than individuals) becomes insolvent or enters into administration, begins negotiations for or makes any agreement for the deferral, rescheduling or other readjustment (or proposes or makes a general assignment or an arrangement or composition with or for the benefit of some or all of its creditors) for all or part of its debts, or any step is taken to enforce security over or a distress, execution or other similar process is levied or served against the whole or part of the assets or undertaking of the Customer; (E) the booking might, in the reasonable opinion of the Hotel, prejudice the reputation of the Hotel, based on the information that was not provided by the Customer to the Hotel at the time of entering into the Contract; or (F) in the circumstances described under clause 7.4.

Other rules

The Montague on the Gardens is a family friendly venue. Guests under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Alcohol will not be served to anyone under the age of 18.

    Great place. Fantastic service. Very attentive. Our room was spacious and mostly comfortable. The amenities are awesome. (Hot chocolate bar, candy station, gym, cozy lobby, etc.) Can't beat the location. Quiet, yet close to everything. Constructive feedback, I wish the gym had a few weights/ dumbbells. It had several nice cardio machines, but nothing for strength training. There's also a daily 15£ optional service fee/tax for gratuity that caught us by surprise. The staff was fantastic, so we didn't mind, but we would have likely used their services more had we known upfront.

    My stay this past December was wonderful! I was in town to visit my daughter who was studying abroad in London. The location of the hotel was perfect and everyone there was so kind. The holiday decorations were beautiful and added such a festive feel to my stay. It was a treat to get back to my beautiful, cozy room each night after a full day out and about. I would absolutely stay here again, and hope I have the opportunity to do so.

    Amazing, Amazing, Amazing there are seriously no other words that best describes this hotel. From the authentic rooms through to the friendly, happy, helpful staff. Way too many staff to remember their names but every single one of them were so helpful and just simply gorgeous. Food was perfect too. Want to thank Sam in the bar whom I remembered from our last visit, he was lovely. Special mention to Fred who helped with our booking prior to arrival, the service you provided was exceptional. This is our 3rd visit and I can honeslty say we won't be stay anywhere else when we next visit. Thank you guys keep up the amazing work.

    The hotel and staff are wonderful, except for house keeping managment team. We asked the to split beds into two twin upon arrivals, it took housekeeping 2 days to get done. Housekeeping kept forgetting to leave still water in the room, they left sparkling water instead which we didn’t drink, and when complained couple of days later, they got us 2 small bottles of still, and when I asked house keeping manger to replace/exchange unused sparkling water bottles in our room with still water, housekeeping manager wanted to charge us for it!! Unbelievable… so easy to impact good experience with bad managment decisions… Her reasoning is, I asked your son if you needed anything earlier and he said all is good!!! ***Afterwords and within the same day , I was contacted by hotel managment and misunderstanding rectified immediately. Thank you for your quick response! Great Service. Great establishment.
