The four star Montague on the Gardens Hotel combines the best of two worlds. In front is the British Museum and the hurly-burly of tourist London, whilst to the rear there's a serene private garden, cut off from the city by a rectangle of fine Georgian townhouses.
Between the two lies The Montague on the Gardens Hotel – an intriguing blend of up-to-the-minute city vibrancy and old-world Bloomsbury charm, where guests can expect British hospitality at its finest.

Looking for something a little different this festive season? This year, our Garden Terrace will be transformed into an elegant log cabin, an atmospheric space complete with a festive bar, a Christmas tree, and beautiful centrepieces. Nestle down amidst our cosy armchairs and sofas and enjoy a drink in front of a flickering fire. Awash with winter merriment, our Log Cabin is the perfect space to soak up the festivities of the Christmas season.
Please note: The Log Cabin is for exclusive hire only. We unfortunately cannot take reservations for individual guests unless you are a hotel resident.

Enquiries are open from 6th November to 17th December 2023 and, as the venue is for exclusive hire, bookings need to be for a minimum of 10 people.
The Log Cabin is available for private hire with two sessions available.
Daytime slot – 12pm - 5pm
Evening slot – 6pm - 10pm
Our staff will be dressed in Christmas Jumpers uniform however, if this does not suit the theme of your event, we will be more than happy to wear waistcoats/suits at no extra charge. Please let us know.

All private hire bookings are based on a minimum spend and a mandatory 12.5% service charge which must be fully pre-paid
The payment terms are 10% to secure the date, 40% 3 months ahead of your event, and 50% 1 month before

Dietary requirements
Our guest’s safety and experience in our food & beverage areas are of paramount importance and we will endeavour to accommodate all dietary/allergen requests. To ensure these requests are treated with extra care, we require 24-hours notice for dietary/allergen, intolerant, or other special requests.
Please note that due to the nature of our business, we cannot guarantee 100% allergen or intolerant free recipes/dishes.
Where the hotel has not been made aware of dietary requirements within the minimum notice period The Montague on the Gardens reserves the right to refuse service.

6. Cancellation and cancellation charges 6.1 Cancellation of the booking of the Service shall be informed in writing by the Customer to the Hotel as soon as possible. 6.2 The Customer shall pay the following amounts for cancellation of the Service (the “Cancellation Charges”) if it cancels the booking under clause 6.1. Period prior to the date for which the event is booked when cancellation is informed in writing Cancellation Charges More than 4 months up to and including 12 months 20% of Anticipated Total Value of the Booking More than 1 month up to and including 4 months 50% of Anticipated Total Value of the Booking Up to and including 1 month 100% of Anticipated Total Value of the Booking 6.3 If the Hotel secures alternative booking which replaces the booking cancelled by the Customer and receives payment for such alternative booking in cleared funds, the Cancellation Charges will be reduced by the amount so received by the Hotel through alternative booking. The Hotel will either reduce the amount invoiced as the Cancellation Charges or, if the payment for such alternative booking is received after issuing the invoice for the Cancellation Charges, credit the Customer for the amount so received by the Hotel through alternative booking. 6.4 The Hotel reserves the right to cancel the booking if: (A) the Customer fails to pay the Rates or Deposit after they become due; (B) the Customer has previous dealing(s) with the Hotel and is more than thirty (30) days in arrears of previous payments due to the Hotel; (C) the Customer (being an individual) applies for an interim order or becomes subject to an individual voluntary arrangement or has a bankruptcy petition presented against him; (D) the Customer (being other than individuals) becomes insolvent or enters into administration, begins negotiations for or makes any agreement for the deferral, rescheduling or other readjustment (or proposes or makes a general assignment or an arrangement or composition with or for the benefit of some or all of its creditors) for all or part of its debts, or any step is taken to enforce security over or a distress, execution or other similar process is levied or served against the whole or part of the assets or undertaking of the Customer; (E) the booking might, in the reasonable opinion of the Hotel, prejudice the reputation of the Hotel, based on the information that was not provided by the Customer to the Hotel at the time of entering into the Contract; or (F) in the circumstances described under clause 7.4.
Other rules
The Montague on the Gardens is a family friendly venue. Guests under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Alcohol will not be served to anyone under the age of 18.

January 2024Very much enjoyed my stay here over the New Year's holiday. Beautiful small hotel with personal service, a real luxury experience. Room was comfortable, quiet, and so nicely decorated. Staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful at all times. Great location, in a nice quiet neighborhood but within easy walking distance of many of the main tourist sites and near several different tube stations-- very convenient for anything you want to do in London. Complimentary coffee/tea in the morning and hot chocolate in the afternoon was a nice extra touch. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to London.

Handmade Birthday cards and cakes from the Staff, who are so incredibly friendly and warm. The food is wonderful and we were astonished at being upgraded to a beautiful Suite. As first timers, we were also treated to a tour of the hotel. Full marks and love from myself and Mrs P. xx

December 2023We had the pleasure of staying at this exceptional hotel during the Christmas season at the end of November for three nights. The service we experienced here was undoubtedly the best we have ever encountered. The hotel staff were not only extremely attentive and helpful but also genuinely friendly. They didn't just warmly welcome every guest; it was evident that they genuinely wanted to personally welcome each one. One particularly remarkable aspect was the individualized care. The staff was always ready to cater to our needs and requests. The hotel itself is beautiful, with meticulous attention to detail. We were particularly impressed by the classic decor style and the cozy fireplace room, which was adorned with a festively decorated Christmas tree during this season. Our room was well-equipped and even had adapters for all known types of plugs, which was very convenient. The hotel's location, right next to the British Museum and in close proximity to Covent Garden, is excellent. Many of London's attractions are within easy walking distance. For future visits to London, this hotel will undoubtedly be our first choice. It was not only a stay of exceptional quality but also a warm welcome that we would be delighted to experience again.
