One of the best hotels I've stayed in. We visited just before Christmas in December, when they turned down the room they left Balmoral cookies and milk as a homage to father Christmas (the cookies were delicious). Nice touch. We also took advantage of Scotch which is the whisky bar inside the hotel, the barman was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The breakfast was held in a grand dining room which was a great atmosphere, the food was good but the price point was a bit cheeky at £32pp. Lastly we had champagne in the Prince brasserie by the fire place which was a cosy break from a cold winters day shopping. Can't wait to be back!

Stayed here for a couple of nights and it really was fantastic. From the car valet to the receptionist, the waiters and bar staff were all superb, friendly and full of information. The room was comfortable but I feel needed a little TLC in places, I think I was in a room near a staff door, which was never closed quietly, it would be opened and then left to slam shut which would also rattle my room door. The dress down service was great, the little touches really do put a smile on your face. The food service was also very enjoyable, with tasty and fresh choices. Certainly would stay here again.

Absolutely loved our stay at The Balmoral! Service was incredibly attentive, the rooms were very comfortable and surprisingly quiet, the Brasserie Prince was delicious, and the gym was a wonderful A+! (An espresso in the gym before starting my workout? Yes, please!) Definitely recommend The Balmoral if you’re staying in Edinburgh… I’m looking forward to my next stay!

We had a great weekend at The Balmoral in January - it’s a lovely traditional hotel and I will definitely return. Excellent service by all staff members and comfortable, well appointed rooms. The concierge helped us with our tickets to Edinburgh Castle and even suggested which time of day we should visit, to get the best weather! (Of course it’s easy to get your own tickets but having the advice on hand was super helpful). The hotel breakfast is also second to none. We had heard the breakfast was great and it didn’t disappoint. The location is very convenient - close to the Royal Mile and close to Edinburgh’s great shopping district. Afternoon tea is also a must if you’re visiting.

Afternoon tea here was a great experience. Good choice of teas, Jack was very attentive. Shame customers of the hotel have to walk through the Palm Court restaurant to get to the Spa. Highly recommended as a treat.
