Great hotel for wine lovers. Civilised relaxing atmosphere and staff. Good food nice dining ambience. Well run with staff on message. Now in need of refurbishment but still a pleasant place to stay.

I came here for afternoon tea with friends today, and it was honestly the best I’ve had. The quality of the food and the attention to detail were outstanding. Everything was perfectly presented in beautiful location. It was my friend’s birthday, and they added a lovely touch with a “Happy Birthday” chocolate, which made it feel extra special. The customer service was exceptional, and the staff were incredibly attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. I’m already looking forward to coming back! I couldn’t recommend highly enough, and a lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Average and below my expectations I will try to give as constructive feedback as possible so that the team can make improvements. Here are the various points: 1) When I arrived, the receptionist tried to charge me an additional £60 for my daughter's bed, even though I had agreed on the price by telephone the day before and had clearly stated that there would be three of us, including my 16-year-old daughter. She tried to do this subtly by saying, ‘Sir, I am pleased to inform you that you have been upgraded.’ A few seconds later, however, she told me that there would be an additional charge for my daughter's bed. I said no. She then stuck to the price that had been agreed upon initially. 2) Service has nothing to do with the quality of the food. How can you achieve such refinement in the dishes you serve when your service is so mediocre? We wanted to have a drink at the bar before dinner, but no one came to take our order. After 25 minutes, we decided to sit down to eat. I complained to the head waiter, Anton, who immediately took charge. From that moment on, it was like night and day. This type of problem should not happen in a Relais & Châteaux establishment. 3°) I should have refused to pay the service charge because the service was not worth £33. I don't think it's right to automatically include it on the bill and charge VAT on top. Service is included in England and we don't want it to become like in the US. Don't forget to add ‘optional’ on your bill.
