About Venue
Hawksmoor Edinburgh is located in the beautiful former National Bank of Scotland Banking Hall, a Grade A listed ‘building of national importance’, a short walk from Waverley station, Princes Street and just off St. Andrew Square. The 165 cover restaurant has been sensitively refurbished to celebrate the building’s original landscape and it features two private dining rooms that can accommodate groups of 13 and 46 diners. Both spaces are private, whilst looking into the restaurant, and are ideal for friends and family feasts, wedding parties, business events, celebrations or pure pleasure. In Edinburgh, Hawksmoor draws on the amazing produce that Scotland has to offer, featuring seafood from around the Scottish coast and beef from grass-fed native breed cattle from both sides of the border.

Wow…. We were in Edinburgh for a long weekend and came across this place on recommendation, we definitely were not disappointed. The staff are really friendly and welcoming from the moment you walk through the door. An excellent range of drinks from the bar and the cocktails were to die for made even better by the stake ( fillet highly recommended and cooked to perfection). The staff were very attentive throughout the evening but not over the top. A must if you are looking for somewhere to eat with a great atmosphere. I wish I could give you more than five stars. Thank you so much 😊

Gorgeous venue, which I belive is a old bank? We reserved a booth which was nice. Me and my two friends had a couple of starters to share, then the porthouse steak to share, with sides. Honestly so nice! The steak had a lot of flavour and the peppercorn sauce was to die for. The drink menu was great too. All the staff went above and beyond for making sure everything was good. Our server was Paul who done everything he could to make our experience one to remember.

We had a wonderful waitress who has a dog called Bailey. She was super fun attentive and put up with all our nonsense. The food was yum. Totally recommend the beef with onion gravy Yorkshire pudding. Followed by an amazing rib eye steak. Cocktails were had beer was drunk and cornflakes were eaten (work that one out) Totally recommend this steak house.

Tuck in the old National Bank of Scotland building is steakhouse, Hawksmoor. The building is impressive and grand. Walking through the heavy oak entrance doors reminded me of speakeasy entrances. Through the doors it opened to high ceilings with etched glass windows and walls with beveled glass panels. Very grand, indeed. The banking hall is converted into the dining area for Hawksmoor, with a huge long bar running the length of the hall. The atmosphere was very hip and happening. Lots of people at the bar and dining area. This place is known for their beef. The menu is centred around grass fed beef with a few token seafood and chicken selections. Scallops were cooked on the shells. It was sweet and delicate with a coating of breadcrumbs which complemented the flavour very well. Pork ribs were actually pork belly with the soft bones. The 1cm slices were marinated well with some Chinese flavours. Cooked and layered with the sauce for a glossy finish. Very tasty. Grilled chicken was super tender. The double breast were seasoned well and cooked just right. Not dried out at all. The portion was huge. Looking around the tables, I spotted Wellingtons, burgers. This is a beef eaters restaurant! Recommended for the quality and quantity of servings.

Awful just awful. We were so looking forward to Sunday dinner here. The offering was poor. Hard cabbage fried up roasted garlic and over cooked steak. We asked for medium and got well done. The server also had the cheek to charge us for a complimentary rib starter which we didn’t order but came as we were waiting so long on the food. I also begrudged paying a service charge that was added whether we received good service or NOT as in this occasion. BTW it’s taken me weeks to decide to add this review but I feel it is not biased and has been written well after I calmed down after such awful service and food. Will never be back at this Hawksmoor. Air street is much better
