Overlooking one of Edinburgh’s prettiest private garden squares, Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel consists of seven inter-connecting Georgian townhouses in the heart of the New Town, a UNESCO world heritage site.

It has undergone a multi-million restoration and refurbishment: all of our bedrooms and suites have been given a smart, new look, inspired by the golden age of travel and a genuine sense of Scottish hospitality.

Our beautiful internal courtyard, The Garden — an oasis of calm with a glass roof — is now open from breakfast through to the wee hours. Inspired by the flavours of the Eastern Mediterranean, our new restaurant, BABA is brought to you by the team behind Glasgow’s award-winning Ox and Finch restaurant.

One of the best hotels in all of Europe! This was the best checkin experience Ive ever had. They had a special check in experience for our daughter and treated her like a VIP and we had a beer while they checked us in. The room was great, the bed was comfy, and the bathroom was luxurious. The hotel pool was a fun extra too. The staff were unbelievably welcoming, they were so nice! Highly, highly recommend staying here while in Edinburgh

We had an absolutely phenomenal stay here! Every single person we interacted with was incredibly kind, helpful, and so invested in making sure that guests are having a wonderful and comfortable stay. The space, rooms, and thoughtful details and amenities are consistently excellent with the Kimpton brand, but it’s really the people working here that make it, and they absolutely made it. Wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else on another trip to Edinburgh!

Dare I say that the Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel had the best staff I’ve ever encountered? From the moment I stepped through the door, I was met with warm smiles, genuine hospitality, and a level of professionalism that set the tone for an exceptional stay. Every staff member I interacted with was attentive, helpful, and welcoming — it truly felt like they cared. Despite the cold and rainy weather during my visit, I always looked forward to returning to the hotel. Stepping inside felt like a reset — cozy, comforting, and uplifting. The hotel itself was immaculate, and my room was spotless and inviting. To top it all off, the on-site restaurant was absolutely delicious — a true highlight of the stay. All in all, the Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. I wouldn’t hesitate to return and would recommend it wholeheartedly!

An excellent experience. The location in New Town is perfect. The atmosphere throughout the hotel was warm, stylish, and full of character, making it stand out from other places I’ve stayed. The staff were consistently helpful and friendly, always ready with a recommendation or support when needed. Special thanks to Jack, who made the stay even more enjoyable with his attentiveness and kind service. The room was comfortable, thoughtfully arranged, and everything was exactly where it should be. Breakfast was excellent, with a range of delicious options that catered to different tastes. Overall, the vibe, the service, and the attention to detail truly elevated the experience. I’d absolutely stay here again and recommend it without hesitation.

Great location in the heart of the New Town. The lobby staff were kind and welcoming. Our room was small but as expected. The glass-covered courtyard with a restaurant and bar offers a lovely atmosphere with cozy seating. The daily complimentary happy hour with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks was a great touch. The breakfast options could be better for non-pork eaters. Overall, we were very satisfied and would gladly stay here again.
