November 2024Highly recommend this hotel. Staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. Rooms are lovely, clean, fresh and well decorated. Breakfast was delicious. Lots to choose from. Hot food buffet was fresh and plentiful. The bar is family friendly. Live music was on the night we stayed and had a fantastic atmosphere. Our daughter was mesmerised by the singer - her voice was beautiful. Drinks prices were also reasonable (especially as it is a hotel bar). The pool is lovely, I didn’t experience it, however my husband and daughter had a fun time in there whilst I sat and observed (with a sneaky glass of wine). Location is great, round the corner from the grass market and walking distance to the castle. Will definitely stay here again.

November 2024We had a couple days in Edinburgh so we wanted to stay close to the city central and Novotel seemed to be in a very good location. There are many good restaurants to eat close by about 10 minutes walk away which works really well for dinner every night. The room was good but the bathroom smelled so we asked the housekeeper who was working on the floor to spray some odor reduction spray in the room for us but it didn't work for long. There was an upgrade of the hotel system so the check in took quite a bit of time and they didn't actually have any of the requests in the booking at all. The pool is just in the basement straight down from the reception area and you can actually see it when you walk to the lift to the guest room, quite a strange design. Overall, a good location for our trip and places we want to visit!

December 2024The hotel is quite dated and primarily caters to tourists and families. There are many families with children, and the noise can be overwhelming, especially if you're traveling without kids. The breakfast is always the same and very basic. The rooms are clean, but the beds are uncomfortable, and I woke up with back pain. The seagulls tapping on the windows in the morning to wake up guests were cute. For an Accor Platinum guest there were just 2 small bottles of water in an executive room… However, the view of Edinburgh Castle was fantastic.

December 2024I wish there is less than 1 star My stay at this hotel from December 19–22, 2024 at room 236 was highly disappointing and fell far below expectations. • The reception staff were unprofessional and dismissive • No luggage assistance was provided • Despite advertised parking facilities • we were informed that the parking was full upon arrival. • The rooms were poorly maintained • Basic amenities such as toothbrushes and slippers were not provided • Only two bottles of water were supplied daily. • The breakfast selection was extremely limited and lacked variety. Overall, the experience was unsatisfactory, and I cannot recommend this hotel to others.

December 2024BE CAREFUL AND DONT BOOK If you’re looking for a relaxing stay, I strongly advise against booking this hotel. I’ve given Novotel multiple chances over the years, hoping for improvement, but my recent stay from December 19–22, 2024, was the final straw. • No luggage assistance: Guests are expected to carry their own luggage to their rooms. • Parking issues: Although the hotel advertises parking, we were told it was full upon arrival. • Unprofessional reception staff: The receptionists were dismissive and unwelcoming. I had to greet them multiple times before getting a response, and even then, they acted busy. • Unclean rooms: The room was not properly cleaned and felt unhygienic. • Basic amenities missing: No toothbrush or slippers were provided, and requesting them incurs an extra charge. • Limited water supply: Only two bottles of water are provided per day. • Poor views: The view from the room was extremely disappointing. • Outdated furniture: The furniture is old and worn out. • Inadequate housekeeping: Rooms are cleaned only upon request. • Breakfast: Very limited options, lacking variety and quality. I deeply regret booking this hotel and cannot recommend it to anyone seeking a pleasant stay.
