About Venue

Kent House Knightsbridge is a Victorian townhouse in central London that provides an elegant venue space for a wide range of events such as Conferences, Fashion Shows, Press Days, Gala Dinners, Receptions Summer and Christmas parties. It also has a civil wedding licence and can be hired for both ceremonies and receptions. It has many beautiful period features such as an entrance hall with a black and white marble floor, a sweeping grand staircase and large floor to ceiling windows. Flexible spaces, seamless service and award winning cuisine for both private and corporate hires.

The house offers a light and neutral space within a grand setting allowing for flexibility and corporate branding. It is a popular venue for weddings, conferences, product launches, screenings, corporate events and Christmas parties. We can do 220 formal seating, or 180-200 with a dancefloor. The in-house event team works closely with clients on styling, catering, floristry and entertainment to create a unique, sophisticated and successful event. I enquired about hiring Kent House for a Honeytrap event (a private members’ club for queer womxn). My enquiry was handled via Gary at Evolve Events, who told me the venue would not be suitable due to its “religious status” and that he had to “be sensitive to everyone.” Fair enough, not every space will align with every community. But what’s confusing is that Kent House is also actively promoted in the Gay Wedding Directory as a venue welcoming LGBTQ+ couples. If that’s the case, why would a queer members’ event be considered “incompatible”? And even if it were, it feels unprofessional and in poor taste to position it that way. Honeytrap has been warmly welcomed by several prestigious venues and members’ clubs across London without issue. It’s unclear whether this reflects Kent House’s official policy or simply Evolve Events’ interpretation, but either way, the inconsistency undermines the credibility of Kent House.
