Good clean rooms and restaurant. Staff very friendly. The lady named Sam in the restaurant was very attentive and friendly and genuinely was making an effort to ensure people were happy with their food. Nothing was too much trouble and she was always working hard to clear tables. Food and drink choices were good. We would stay here again if we visit Newbattle. Only one negative we thought was room service trays were left outside rooms on the floor when finished and maybe could have been cleared earlier. (Only 1 or 2 )

I recently stayed here whilst travelling for work. The staff were amazing, very pleasant, accommodating and welcoming on arrival. The room was okay - relatively clean and presentable but being on the 6th floor, it was uncomfortably hot! Could have really done with a fan or better still air con. Breakfast was good too. I’ve only marked it down due to how hot it was. Also the code to exit the car park changes on a daily basis which is inconvenient if you’re in and out and staying more than one night like I was. Overall, would recommend and visit again.

Its an adequate hotel. But that's all. We queued 10 minutes at check in, got our room after we checking in online. I asked if we had a king room (like we'd paid for) and they said yes. But we didn't, so we had to head back downstairs with bags to check in again. This time there was a large queue, we queued 15 more minutes and got our room. The room has been somewhat cleaned. The toilet seat was wet, like it'd been used. And the footprint on the ceiling was a surprise (see photo) The parking was challenging on our first night, as it was busy. Theres an overflow car park, but it's gravel and spaces unmarked. People parked leaving lathe gaps, so there wasn't enough space and people then blocked other cars in. It just needed a bit of organising really. If there's an event on nearby, I'd be making sure I couldn't be blocked in Staff were friendly though, and location isn't terrible for the centre.

We were given 2 rooms one on the 1st floor another on the 4th floor. We had explained we had a disabled family member before booking . 1st floor awful combined food smells filtering from fed floor. we had to go and buy air freshener and as it was shorter walk from lift it would have been perfect for the disabled person- but the bed was 2 different height beds pushed together very low to ground. And for someone who requires help to get up this was inadequate. The room on 4th floor was a distance from lift and had a double bed with a good height & a made up sofa bed. This is the room the disabled person had to be given. Even though the weird different height bed was not ideal for 2 adults and a child. The sink would not drain in the 1st floor bathroom. No air conditioning in any rooms this in itself is strange - no heating or cooling. Breakfast was basic not much choice- I have never been to a hotel where guests use domestic toasters - where the staff mistakenly think every ethnic person is the same without checking they told a female guest their child had no shoes. The guest replied it wasn’t their child. But the staff member an older lady insisted. Another ethnic lady asked for an omelette and they came and gave to me - I declined I hadn’t ordered- they insisted - I had to point out the other family - they went to give to them no apology given. At no point did staff topping up food cutlery etc wash hands. I watched them scratch heads. Touch their phones. Smooth hair. Staff were wearing jeans. The cleaner was taking food to customers. Crumbs from table were dropped on floor. Numerous tables were wiped with the same cloth and no detergent. All in all a most unpleasant stay. I have stayed at a number of Newcastle hotels in the last 3 years - Ramada has to be the absolute worst.
