I have stayed at this hotel before and have good memories. This stay was mixed for me, my room was clean and comfortable, if a little dated now. However, the room was cold, even cranking the heating up to the maximum didn't help. I did use the electric oil heater that was in the room and that took the chill off but didn't get it warm. My room was located on the lower ground floor and connected to the Leopold Square restaurants and bars. This was unfortunate as this meant the room was very noisy each night, with the shouting and general noise carrying on until around 2am. Not ideal if you have an early start. Breakfast was OK but no more, the breakfast room was running out of things every day. No cheese one day and no pastries another day etc. However, I would certainly stay here again, as the staff were all helpful, friendly and charming. The building has real character, something sadly missing in this day of corporate style large group hotels. Very conveniently located with access to plenty of good restaurants and shopping.

I recently stayed in Room 123 for several nights. I've stayed in this hotel at least 7 times over the past 10 years, and this most recent trip was, unfortunately, the most dissapointing. The room was dated and, honestly, nothing special. For the price, and 4*, you would expect some degree of luxury or "something" that makes it memorable. The room I was in was no different from a Travelodge or Premier Inn, apart from the decor. It had a bed and TV. Nothing in the bathroom except towels and showergel fixed on the wall. All extremely bare bones and basic ammenities. The breakfast is very high quality, and there are no issues with the location or staff (of course). I paid £160 for Saturday into Sunday, and feel that the price was absolutely not worth what I got out of it.
