Borough Arms Hotel

Went for a meal last week. I hadn't been here before but must have druven past a million times. Wasnt quite sure what to expect food wise as im vegetarian. But happy to report i really enjoyed my meal. The main was really good and tasted great. Would eat here again.

I tried to rank this place three stars, but I just couldn't. Let's start with the good - the staff were welcoming and warm, the room was clean, and the location is great (especially because they offer car parking). The bad is plentiful however. The rooms are very very old fashioned, and although you might try and argue they've gone for an antiquey feel - no it just feels old. Although the sheets were clean, they weren't even tucked underneath the mattress so would move while you slept unless you sleep like a statue. The bathroom had two bars of soap, but no shampoo or shower gel - these are basic hotel amenities? I don't know, maybe this place deserves three stars owing to it's location but I simply don't have the heart to give it such when there are simple improvements they could do. The TV in my room didn't even work, and I swear from a distance it looked so tiny I'd rather watch something on my phone instead. I'd only book this place if you get a really cheap price, which it was for me. Otherwise - you're better off at a Premier Inn.

My husband and I came here for a meal earlier this week. Our wait staff were lovely and attentive. However, I heard what seemed to be the owner or manager yelling at these young girls! He was extremely rude and it made our experience terrible! We felt so bad for these young women. I will NOT be eating here again as I do not want to put money in that retched man's pocket.
