About Venue

Set in beautiful, landscaped gardens near Halifax, West Yorkshire, the 380-year-old Jacobean house has long been one of Yorkshire's most-loved venues for meetings and events.

Holdsworth House really is totally unique and wonderfully photogenic, having featured on TV numerous times. The four star hotel is packed with interesting and historic features, and is traditionally styled with wood-panelled halls, beamed ceilings and furnished with antiques, paintings and tapestries.

Holdsworth House is well known for running successful events and for its award-winning food.

There are five rooms available for events up to 120 guests, including The Gazebo.  The Stuart Room can accommodate up to 120-seated guests and 150 for an evening party. You can even run events outdoors in the beautiful Colonnade Courtyard or on the lawns or patios.

Holdsworth House has 33 ensuite bedrooms for overnight stays.

The manor is independently owned and for over 50 years and is flexible to most guests' needs.

A ground-floor room for meetings, training, presentations, boardroom meetings.

I have been visiting Holdsworth House regularly for over 20 years. It just gets better and better. I meet up with my son and his family, they live close by. I often invite them as my guests for dinner and even breakfast. Chris,Tracy,Kay, Mikhaila and the rest of the team always make us most welcome.

I had the pleasure of photographing Melanie and Paul’s wedding at Holdsworth House Hotel and Restaurant, and I have to say what an incredible venue! The place has such a stunning and cosy charm, mixing history with elegance. Every room feels unique and welcoming, which made it a perfect backdrop for intimate, storytelling wedding photography. The gardens are absolutely breathtaking beautifully kept and full of character. They added so much variety to the photos, from romantic couple portraits to natural, candid moments with family and friends. A huge part of what made the day run so smoothly was the fantastic staff at Holdsworth House. They were warm, attentive, and professional from start to finish, always making sure everything went perfectly for the couple and their guests. As a photographer, I especially appreciated how helpful they were in coordinating timings and ensuring we had everything we needed for those once-in-a-lifetime shots. Holdsworth House isn’t just a venue it’s an experience. With its cosy atmosphere, stunning gardens, and wonderful staff, it’s truly a gem for weddings.

Came for the restorative 90 minute treatment, I got to choose my oil with a smell test ( I thought this was a nice touch) my therapist Hannah was lovely explained the treatment which includes a back massage, face, scalp and shoulders using a cool gua sha. Hannah's pressure was really good , the pressures really helped me to relax. After treatment I was taken to a relax room with refreshments and a cookie. I was also given a heated eye mask to continue the relaxation. The location and staff are lovely . I will be back to see Hannah for another treatment. The products smell lovely and feel great.

We originally found this place and were quoted a very large price for a room and DB&B. I then found a deal which meant we got it almost half price (still expensive!). So we went for an anniversary treat. It’s by no means terrible but also no where near as ‘swish’ as it looks on the website. Rooms are dated and old fashioned - most beds are doubles (not king) and we had an ‘executive suite’ as part of the deal. The bed had a large wooden frame and was VERY hard. It was also incredibly high (I am 5’10” and struggled to get in it). The service was lovely - a great experience there; but the food was very average at dinner (and very expensive so the £35 allocation per person didn’t cover 2 courses). Starters and desserts were particularly disappointing. And choice was limited too. So my advice is, if you don’t mind old fashioned, give it a go - but definitely don’t pay full price.
