For a start there’s the building, a beautiful old town hall, whose 80 rooms have seen so much over the years. Now that we are an arts centre, people come here to be creative, see a show, explore local heritage, visit the Scratch Bar, play or relax.
We invite you in to watch early versions of shows, to hear your feedback. We call this Scratch. Finished shows can use any room in the building, from the attic to the artists’ bedrooms to the Council Chamber.
We are open all day for anyone to explore. Children and adults can play together in our indoor playspace, The Bees Knees or enjoy our monthly fun-filled Family Saturdays. Young people come here after school to develop their creativity, confidence and enterprising ideas. We also celebrate the rich heritage of our building and the local area through events and discussions.

April 2024We went to attend the filming of a programme. Great and reasonably priced coffee. A helpful gentleman at the door explaining the history of the building. Stunning mosaic flooring and other architectural details. A lovely vibe and energy in an iconic building. Do read the website for details about a building that has some witnessed truly radical changes.

March 2024Attended the Football Black List Awards. It’s the second year running BAC has hosted the national award. A fabulous venue befitting the occasion and prestige of this Premier League sponsored event.

April 2024We visited for filming of Portrait Artist of The Year. As a building it's packed with character and it's own style. We had a bite to eat and drink in the cafe before which was lovely and it was very popular/busy through our time there. The hall where the filming was really interesting in itself and overall the afternoon we had was great, albeit long. Hope to visit again next year.

March 2024A great venue for private events (parties, in particular), located slightly outside of the main city area, although well connected by bus 24/7, which makes getting back to central easy and cost effective.
