Finding the ideal venue for a training session in Glasgow
If you're looking for a team-building activity for your business, a training room is ideal. It's small, but can be packed full of people who come to learn something. If you're the kind of person who could happily go to the pub every day, think about how great it would be if you could do so in the afternoon and then go to a training room with your team in the evening.
Training rooms are popping up all over Glasgow, and they can be found in many different places. The two main types are group learning spaces — these tend to be housed in old factories or warehouses — and individual rooms. These tend to be in places like universities, colleges or offices that use them as meeting spaces.
If you want to arrange a training day at your office or place of business, look into local training rooms. You'll get more bang for your buck from them because they're cheaper than hotels or courses. They also benefit from being combined with team building activities like paintballing or pyjama night (don't worry, this is optional).
What to think about when looking for a training space
The main things to think about when looking for a training venue in Glasgow are the size, the style, and the location.
Size: A good venue will be big enough to hold all the participants, but not too big that it makes it difficult to control the flow of your course.
Style: If you're having a group training session, it's important that you find somewhere with a cool style that can reflect your brand. Otherwise, people may end up feeling like they're attending a bootcamp.
Location: It really depends on what activities you're planning for your course — if you're just running an informational course or a product training session, you might decide on one location. If so, then think about how easily you can access the area from your offices. If you have attendees who need to travel from all over Glasgow, then it's worth considering whether a different location would be better or if the session could be held partly online.
Our favourite spaces to host a training session in Glasgow
You can choose from a variety of options when it comes to venues for your training session. The obvious choice is a regular office, but the wrong one can cause a backlash among participants.
If you're looking for something more formal, then Òran Mór, Wolfson Medical School's atrium, and Citation are all good choices. Each offers unique features that will help your participants focus on the material being presented.
Òran Mór: This is the space where the University of Glasgow's departments and institutes meet up, so it's often full of people at all hours of the day. It's also surrounded by other buildings that provide plenty of opportunity for photos and videos, which makes it an ideal location for a training session.
Wolfson Medical School: This space is frequently used by medical students and staff as well as visiting doctors and scientists. It's also situated close to the campus cafeteria, so if food is a concern then this venue should be considered.
Citation: A unique venue located on Sauchiehall Street in the heart of Glasgow's entertainment district. This modern glass building hosts a great selection of bars and restaurants as well as some interesting events, like the global warming protest this summer or live music performances from world-famous acts. The rooms are spacious enough to host all sorts of activities, but still feel intimate and warm thanks to their natural light design. This venue is worth checking out if you want something a bit different.
