My husband and I had afternoon tea here and everything was delicious. They have a nice selection of teas. Everything we ate tasted fresh. Some of the combinations were new and interesting to us! We are from the United States and have had afternoon tea in various cities there, so we were very excited to visit Edinburgh and try afternoon tea here. We were not disappointed! I loved seeing the cows outside too!

I would not recommend the afternoon tea. The level of service left me feeling completely ignored. We had a reservation and were seated in the tapestry room. We were offered water, which never materialized. Our tea was delivered but following that we received no food. There were no staff around to inquire about it. After a literal hour (not exaggerating) someone came by and noticed we hadn't been served. When our food subsequently arrived, we had to remind them that they forgot our amuse bouche. As a final insult when we were ready to leave, we waited a long time with no staff in sight to request our bill. We eventually wandered downstairs and flagged down a random staff member to pay. Throughout this no one apologized, and we were still suggested to leave a tip. The positive: The house and grounds are beautiful. The staff at the front of the hotel treated us kindly. The food and tea were great.
