About Venue
All of our rooms enjoy natural daylight from floor to ceiling windows, black-out blinds for presentations, and sensory features such as walls of silver birch trees or a large scarlet circular table.
Each room is named after a fictional spy from British film or TV, and contains a collection of the spy curiosities (fencing masks, chemistry sets, crossbows and black boxes) to match. South Place hotel can become your personal playground, where you and your guests can eat, drink and be merry.
Named after Napoleon Solo, a spy in The Man From U.N.C.L.E., the smallest of our five private rooms is still a generous 37sqm (398sqft). It slickly transforms into a pool table, making it the ultimate after-dinner games room. Double doors open onto our speakeasy bar, Le Chiffre, increasing capacity to 90.

One of the best hotels we‘ve been in, in London. Very luxurious despite not actually paying much. Big room, big bathtub, giant and comfortable bed were all included. The staff was very friendly and the receptionist even went up to our room with us to show us everything. The Bluebird restaurant that is inside the hotel was delicious and also had very friendly staff. Overall, an amazing experience.

Excellent high-end hotel nestled in Liverpool St area of London. With the Broadgate Circle development there’s loads to do (restaurants, bars, shops) within a few minutes, as well as everything the City and Shoreditch has to offer. The room was very comfortable, with an excellent bed, good lighting, mini bar (incl. good teabgs!) and a well-equipped bathroom. I also enjoyed the spaces downstairs, including some fabulous cocktails in the bar, and a delicious duck salad for lunch. Staff were helpful and professional throughout. My husband stayed here on another occasion and rated it highly too. There’s only one downside for which I have deducted one star: I was disappointed at check-out to discover SPH have adopted the practice of adding an “optional” service charge. I paid it, but I would much prefer the hotel incorporate it into advertised rates. Paying staff properly isn’t optional, and responsibility for this shouldn’t transferred to guests. Staff’s take-home pay ought to be consistent, and not dependent on the generosity of guests in any particular month.

I stayed at this hotel back in 2022. The hotel itself was fine; the rooms, location, and overall experience were good. Unfortunately, things behind the scenes are really not in order. At check-in, I was asked to leave a deposit of £250, which already felt strange for a five-star hotel. Still, I agreed. When I tried to pay the deposit with my bank card, it didn’t work with the normal payment terminal, so they brought one from the restaurant instead, and I paid that way. After my stay, I tried to contact the hotel several times to get my deposit refunded, but it was incredibly difficult. Even after all this time, they still haven’t refunded me. I’ve been patient for long enough, and that’s why I’m finally writing this review. So please, future guests, be careful if you stay here. They simply keep your money and never refund the deposit.
