Brilliant location and the most attentive staff- we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. On arrival we were greeted immediately and had our bags taken. There was a slight issue with check in however this was promptly sorted and we were kindly given a complimentary breakfast. Special thank you to Sahil and Anu on reception. The hotel was clean and tidy and the room was a great size. Breakfast was delicious and the bar and waiting staff couldn’t do enough for us. We would definitely visit again.

Overall, the hotel was good, and most of the staff were friendly, polite, and helpful. Unfortunately, one female receptionist’s behavior significantly affected our experience. Before checking out, I called to ask if the hotel had a luggage scale. I explained that if they didn’t have one, I would be happy to use a regular body weight scale instead. Instead of listening to my question, the receptionist repeatedly said we didn’t have a scale, we didn’t have that, we didn’t have that, seemed to ignore what I was actually asking, pretending to not hear me it was clearly faking it, and then abruptly ended the call before I had finished speaking. I found the interaction dismissive and unprofessional and so rude for no reason. After two minutes of that weird call a staff from the concierge came to weight our bags!!!! So what was that all about! And it was only 9:10 in the morning. Can’t imagine her attitude at the end of the day. We had other annoying incidents but it was all handled with professionalism from the other staff. —- Update 1 month later the didn’t return deposit: Thank you for your response. I would also appreciate your urgent assistance with the approximately £600 security deposit taken during my stay. I was surprised to learn about this deposit on arrival, as my booking had already been paid in full, and I was given no option but to pay it. It has now been over a month since my check-out, and despite multiple emails, I have received no response and the deposit has still not been returned. This is a significant amount of money, and I would appreciate someone from the hotel contacting me immediately to resolve this matter.

This hotel does not justify being a 5 star. We stayed in a suite which was in dire need of modernisation. The wardrobe doors didn't shut so the internal lights stayed on all night, the carpet is past it's best and the wallpaper is even trying to leave the premises. View was lovely as was the bed and bathroom. We were told room service was 24 hours by staff (it also shows as 24 hours on the menu) but when calling just after 11 we were told kitchen's closed. The pool/spa is not attached to the building which isn't a major issue but it is very busy as it serves the hotel and general public. Certainly not relaxing when the steam room, sauna and hydro pool is full to bursting. If you're after a 5 star hotel this isn't the one to be going for.

Hotel feels very old. We stayed and one night the fire alarm went off about 5 times during the night because of a fault in the system. Genuinely felt like a method for torture. The staff have said that they’d refund that one night but we’ll see if that happens Only saving grace is the view of the river. Edit: still not heard anything from the hotel, in their reply to the review they said to email again which I’ve done several times. Apparently they’re more responsive to reviews than their actual emails

I've been making every effort to resolve this matter privately, but now I've been left with no choice. I stayed at Canary Riverside Plaza Hotel on 11-12 July 2026. Between approximately 1am and 3am, the fire alarm repeatedly went off due to what we were later informed was a system error, resulting in multiple evacuations of the entire hotel throughout the night. This was an incredibly distressing experience. Every time we were allowed back into our room, we were unable to properly relax or sleep because we were constantly anticipating the alarm sounding again. Upon check-out, the receptionist apologised and confirmed that the hotel would be refunding all guests who stayed on the affected night. He also confirmed that my full security deposit would be refunded as a gesture of goodwill. On 16 July, I emailed the hotel to follow up on this. On 20 July, I received a response stating that the refund had been processed on 15 July - but I was invited to email back again if the refund hadn't reached me by the end of the week for the team to investigate. As I hadn't received it by the end of the week, I emailed again on 27 July requesting that the matter be investigated. To date (29 July), I have received no acknowledgement, no update and no explanation. What I find most disappointing is not only the disruption caused during the stay, but the way this has been handled afterwards. I genuinely didn't want to leave a public review. I deliberately chose to deal with this privately first and gave the hotel every opportunity to resolve the matter directly. However, after weeks of chasing, I've been left with no meaningful communication and an outstanding refund. I hope this review prompts the management team to investigate this matter properly, honour the commitments that were made at check-out, and contact me as soon as possible to bring this issue to a resolution.
