Smith & Wollensky has been serving up the finest USDA Prime dry-aged steaks in America since it first opened its doors in New York in 1977.
After winning the heart of the Big Apple, those award-winning steaks were soon to be found all across the States, from the windy city of Chicago to the hot sands of Miami Beach. Last year, Smith & Wollensky launched its first London site in the historic Grade II_listed Adelphi Building just off the Strand, offering a selection of signature USDA Prime dry-aged steaks and premium seafood, alongside award-winning wines and classic cocktails.

Wow. I have eaten a lot of steak in some wonderful places, this is without doubt one of the best meals I have ever had. The steak was cooked to perfection and is the first steak I have never had to add anything too, the taste can not be put into words, the flavour explodes in your mouth leaving you short of breath as to how someone can completely change the way you enjoy steak. This was beyound perfection. I came here as I had heard the steak was good, but nothing could have prepared me for the marvel that was brought to the table. I salivated at every bite, I took as long as I could to eat so I could fully enjoy every mouthful, as every part added to the experiance, the perfectly cooked and seasoned chips that again for the first time needed no extra salt. This was not just a meal it was perfection personified. From the entry and the table service, everything was on point. This place knows how to treat its diners. Go at least once if you can as you will not be dissapointed. I had the £80 rib eye on the bone as recomended by the waitress as their most flavoursome steak and boy was it. Take a bow Smith & Wollensky Take a bow. I hope to come again soon no matter how expensive you may think it is, it is worth it.

Exceptional Steakhouse Experience at Smith & Wollensky This marks my second visit to Smith & Wollensky, and it has quickly become my top choice for an indulgent steak dinner before catching a show at the theatre or opera in London’s West End. The ambiance captures the essence of a classic New York steakhouse—elegant and upscale, with crisp white tablecloths, premium cutlery, and impeccable service that makes you feel truly pampered. The steak selection is unparalleled in London, boasting an extensive menu divided into three premium categories: USDA Prime (mostly on-the-bone cuts for maximum flavor), grass-fed Irish Beef, and luxurious Wagyu options. My companion and I opted to sample the highlights from the USDA section, sharing the bone-in ribeye, T-bone, and Kansas City strip sirloin. The ribeye was the standout—perfectly marbled, juicy, and cooked to perfection, delivering that melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. The T-bone followed closely with its robust flavor profile, while the Kansas City strip, ordered medium as recommended, was slightly tougher and chewier than expected for such a high-caliber cut. Nonetheless, the overall quality was outstanding. We complemented our meal with sides that elevated the experience; I highly recommend the crispy onion rings and sautéed mushrooms for their perfect balance of texture and taste. The wine list is impressively comprehensive, curated with expertise, and the knowledgeable sommelier provided spot-on recommendations to pair with our steaks. Without a doubt, Smith & Wollensky ranks among London’s finest steakhouses. I’ll certainly be returning soon—highly recommended for any steak enthusiast!
