About Venue

Located a stone’s throw from Farringdon Station and bordering trendy Exmouth Market, The Postal Museum has opened its doors to the abandoned and forgotten Mail Rail. The space has a capacity of up to 275 people and hire will provide guests with an immersive ride through the original railway tunnels as part of the experience.

The impressive industrial, blank canvas space is available for a range of events from product launches to live gigs.

Additional areas are available for hire within the Postal Museum itself. With a capacity for 80, this space is perfect for intimate receptions and networking events. The contemporary museum space comes with the added benefit of a private courtyard and the opportunity to include a curator-led museum tour as part of the guests’ experience.

Exceeded expectations ! What a well curated museum, I went in with no expectations as I’m not a post or mail enthusiast or anything. However came out learning so much and the museum is very interactive. Would be great to bring kids here. If you can spare £12.50 (18-25), I would highly encourage purchasing the ticket for the Mail Rail ride. You actually get to go into small train and follow the underground route mail use to travel! There are also videos and presentations on the walls during the route. Only flag is if you have claustrophobia, it may not be for you as it’s quite a tight fit!

Loved the train ride, as it game you insight as to how everything worked. Honestly I think it would be great if something like this was still around. So the info was very interesting and the staff was very noligable and friendly.

One of the best small museums I've been to in a long time. Very well set out and interactive things for children to do. It's split into two parts on either side of the road. Mail Rail on one side is a little train that runs underground where mail trains used to run. There's a film projected onto a tunnel wall (the train stops for this) that travels back in time to the railway's 1930s heyday. Very well executed. The museum itself has many interesting exhibits including old uniforms for children to dress up in, old post boxes, old public phones etc. Well worth the entrance fee (and you can use the ticket for a year - although if you want to go on the train again, there is a reduced fare payable) All in all a really good morning out.

Pleasantly surprised! Wasn't expecting much but the mail rail was fun and interesting and the separate exhibition was excellently put together and really engaging. Accessibility is great for everything apart from the actual mail rail train (inherently) and they require that in an emergency you can climb stairs unaided. Quite cramped and hard to get into so bare in mind for accessibility. HOWEVER they do have a video showing you the whole train ride in the exhibition.
