About Venue
Step into a place where every moment becomes a loving memory.
The Clissold isn’t just another venue – it’s where stories unfold, laughter echoes and connections are made over perfectly crafted drinks and exceptional food. Also known as The Home of The Kinks it is now a sophisticated and relaxing eatery, serving a variety of delectable Mediterranean dishes. The Clissold Arms, established in 1850, is a family owned local Gastropub with a longstanding history within the community. Our journey began with a passion for quality ingredients and a desire to create a menu that reflects our love of Greek cuisine, enjoyed in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
From the moment you walk through our doors, you’ll discover what makes us special. Maybe it’s the buzz of conversation in our vibrant main restaurant, the intimate charm of the Kinks Room, or the gentle warmth of our heated beer garden where seasons don’t matter. Perhaps it’s the way our Terrace catches the afternoon sun, or how The Shed transforms into
the perfect backdrop for your celebration.
At The Clissold, we don’t just serve food and drinks; we create experiences. Whether you’re seeking the energy of live entertainment or the tranquility of al fresco dining, whether you’re hosting two people or two hundred, we’ll make sure your time with us is everything you hoped for and more. All our function rooms are licensed for live music, except the beer garden which we only allow background music so as not to disturb the neighbours. We’ve created five distinct spaces because we know that every occasion deserves its own atmosphere. Planning an unforgettable corporate event? We’ve got you covered. Celebrating a milestone birthday or dreaming of the perfect wedding reception? Let us set the stage. Just want to unwind with friends after a long week?
Pull up a chair – we’ve been looking forward to welcoming you.
The room has a capacity of 20 seated guests or 30 standing. The Shed also has direct access onto our Patio Garden where an area will be reserved for the event. This room is inter-connected with the Terrace and can be hired together for extra space.
The Shed is a suitable space for a variety events, from meetings, to children parties, baby showers, birthday parties, small weddings, friends or family gathering, but also for funeral receptions.
Tripadvisor Reviews:
''It was a special birthday occasion in The Shed.. and the treatment by staff was indeed SPECIAL. The food and service was excellent, good value and generous helpings. All requests for digital playback of music and screen visuals were dealt with professionally. Many thanks go to Kosta (and his team) at the venue for his help and excellent service. Also to Bianca for her excellent communication emails for food, costings and any thing else requested. Very highly recommended.'' Edwards
''The Shed was the perfect room for dancing and the music did not intrude into the dining/seated area. A Perfect celebratory party in every way. It was also extremely helpful to be able to go in the day before and decorate the room as it was not hired out. They were extremely accommodating. Highly recommended!'' Liz N.

I visited for one of the restaurant's Greek nights, which was extremely popular and created a fantastic atmosphere. The venue was very busy, the music was enjoyable, and the food was good, making for an entertaining evening overall. Unfortunately, the service struggled to keep up with the demands of the event. We often found ourselves having to ask for the next course of the meze to be brought out, and at one point we even had to collect bread ourselves. Given that the event was organised in advance, I felt there could have been better coordination and communication between the staff and the tables they were responsible for serving. That said, the restaurant was exceptionally busy, and I appreciate that events of this size can be challenging to manage. Because I've only visited during this particular event and haven't experienced the restaurant on a normal day, I don't want to be overly critical or assume that this reflects their usual standard of service. Overall, it was a fun evening with good food, music, and atmosphere. While the service could certainly have been more organised, I would be willing to visit again outside of an event to experience the restaurant under normal circumstances.

The service was ok but how a pub could forget to bring the drinks, but they managed to. Staff seem to have that skill of not meeting a customer’s eye when they want something. The kleftico was excellent. The souvla was grey boney and very dry and hard. The manager offered a sharper knife! And said that it was meant to be like that. It was taken off the bill. We were given our portion of baklava free, but I thought it was meant to come with ice cream?

We booked a private space here for a wake, and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing. When we arrived, there was nobody to welcome us, guide us, or explain where we should go. The space did not feel properly prepared, and several of the chairs had holes in them, meaning some guests could not sit comfortably. For such a sensitive occasion, this was incredibly embarrassing. We had ordered tea and coffee, but the tea urn was never provided, despite being paid for. There was only coffee, and even that was served without milk. The food was not set up when we arrived, and we had to go looking for staff to ask for items that had already been arranged. No one came to check on us or serve us during the reception. On top of this, we were charged an extra £30 for paying by card, which had not been communicated to us in advance. Had we known, we would have brought cash. This was a wake for our father, not a normal casual booking. On such an emotional day, the last thing we should have had to do was chase staff, question what had been provided, and deal with unclear charges. The lack of organisation, care and communication made an already difficult day even more stressful. Very disappointing, and I would not recommend this venue for an important or sensitive family occasion.
