Bar Doña

the team at doña are the kindest and most attentive i’ve ever met. i came here for some low-key drinks with a friend. i was welcomed by the pictured adorable reservation card on my table, which really made me smile! we tried all the tacos, which were each very delicious. the paloma mezcal was so yummy, as was the spicy marg my friend tried! due to there being a birthday party booking in the downstairs area, the staff were rushed off their feet with kitchen orders, so our second round of taco orders took a little while to come — not that my friend and i noticed, we were having such a fun conversation, and we’d already eaten some! they made such an effort to keep checking in and make sure we were okay, it really made us feel looked after. the staff were so kind and apologetic — they gave us free shots and churros as an apology, not that we needed one, they’d already treated us so kindly. the complimentary espresso martinis after good were also so smooth and yummy, i usually don’t care for those but i couldn’t help but appreciate these! honestly from the delicious cocktails to the incredibly caring treatment my friend and i agreed we absolutely have to come back. i have to add a personal note that it’s my birthday tomorrow and i wasn’t feeling too excited about it, however this evening and the very kind treatment from staff turned out to be very serendipitous for me. it made me feel special at a time i really needed it. so so so very worth stopping by, i hope to become a regular!

We booked Bar Doña for our Stoke Newington Wedding afterparty, and it was the best decision we ever made. And honestly, from the moment we booked it, it started to steer the aesthetic for the whole wedding! We'd had a lot of fun down there in the past, and trusted that they knew how to throw a party... but boy did they. I had high hopes and they fully went above and beyond. It was so joyful and fun. Special thank you to Baba who was so incredibly communicative, thoughtful and fun to coordinate planning with. She kept touching base as we approached the date, which made everything super easy to plan and smooth running - and she also hooked us up with great contacts: Thrift Tacos when we had caterers pull out a few weeks before, and an amazing DJ Dr Telefunk when I changed my mind on wanting one... a sound engineer when we wanted a band... it was all effortless and hands down the easiest part of the day to organise. On the night Chey looked after everyone so well, there was never a wait for the bar despite the fact we had 70 guests descend at once, and the Security guard was extremely lovely and took care of a couple of wedding guests who'd had their fill of tequila... All in all just so warm, welcoming, and we can't wait to go back and relive the memories. And I can't wait until the next milestone birthday when I can have another party in the pink palace basement.
