I recently visited Cantley House for their Bridgerton-themed afternoon tea. As a fan of the series, I found it to be a lovely, refined experience, though it leaned more toward a traditional tea with a Bridgerton "vibe" rather than a fully immersive event. The Highlights • The Ambiance: They nailed the aesthetic. The floral arrangements were very reminiscent of the series, and having the iconic soundtrack playing in the background really set the mood. • The Food: The sandwiches were a standout. The bread was exceptionally fresh, and the presentation was top-tier. • Practicality: A huge plus for the free on-site parking, which made the arrival stress-free. Areas for Improvement • The Arrival: While the reception team was warm, we were left standing at the entrance of the tea room for about five minutes before being seated. It felt a bit awkward and put a slight dampener on the initial "VIP" feel. • The "Bridgerton" Factor: Compared to other themed teas, this felt a little stripped back. There was no themed "Lady Whistledown" menu to take home and no character meet-and-greets, which would have really elevated the experience. • Service & Details: Service was quite slow to start, though the staff became much more attentive as the afternoon progressed. I would have appreciated the staff checking in for extra sandwiches, and the scones were unfortunately served unwrapped, meaning they lost their heat quickly. Final Verdict: A solid choice for a tasteful, pretty afternoon tea in a lovely setting, but those looking for a high-energy immersive experience might find it a bit understated. While the food quality and decor were great, the service hiccups and the lack of themed extras (like the menu) keep it from being a perfect 5. However, since the sandwiches were great and the staff did eventually "pick up the pace," a 3-star rating is a fair "nudge" to the hotel that they’re doing well but could sharpen the details.
