Macdonald Berystede Hotel & Spa, Lyndhurst Boardroom

This place was exactly what we needed as a UK break. Hotel was nice, breakfast was included, was basic but adequate and the restaurant had fish of the day as well as meat dishes. The bar was a lovely place to sit and relax with a glass of wine. Room was large, with a nice seating area and was serviced daily. Staff were very helpful. Spa area was good, an indoor and outdoor pool and large garden area. The weather was beautiful so we were able to sit outside on sun beds all day. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family for a weekend away.

Me and my friend again came back for the holiday after the Mother’s Day visit. The service was the reason we came back. This time we came for massage and facial treatment. Last time we came here for the Mother’s Day lunch with my family. After getting massage we went for a two courses lunch which was included in spa package. When went to the restaurant surprisingly we were greeted by Aliza the same server who served us before. She was so lovely and friendly gave us the best service. I was thrilled to get serviced by her. Then we ordered the drinks which was Hugo spritze and my friend ordered a cocktail passionfruit mojito. The drinks were top notch and the food as well. Every time we came here the food impressed me a lot. This time we both ordered Gyoza as a starter and catch of the day which was amazing. We got a lot of choices from the menu as well. I was quite hungry that day, so, I ordered Chocolate fondant. Last time and this time when we came they never failed to impressed us. We will be back again.

I had a spa day at Macdonald berystede hotel. I didn’t stay the night so can’t rate the rooms. However I had an okay experience. The pool is a bit run down, could do with a good clean, the Salt, steam and sanuna room was nice. The showers inside them are a bit run down and the shower heads could do with a good descale. I paid £158 for two people, this included 4hr access to the spa area, lunch and a 25min treatment. I had a “Elemis expert touch nourish” facial, this is where it wasn’t so great. When myself and my friend was in the waiting room the staff came out and never really greeted us, even when we said hello. Once I was called in, I was asked what I was allergic too but was never told what products where used on me. It was quite rushed and not overly that relaxing. My esthetician had quite long nails as well which actually scratched my face, she was quite rushed and overall I didn’t really like the facial at all. The towel used on my face was very hot also. Lunch was okay. We had a set menu, I wanted the chicken wings as a starter but they didn’t have them so I only really had a prawn cocktail and bread to choose from so went with prawn cocktail. Then main was just a, catch of the day which was “trout” but was actually salmon, then either a vegan burger or pasta. So not many options. Apart from a couple sandwiches with crust cut off and served with crisps. The staff came to our table multiple times with the wrong order and they didn’t really seem like they knew what they was doing even though it wasn’t that busy. I honestly dont know if I would return. For a 4 star hotel I did expect a bit more from them. I must say though I went on 01/06/2026 between 9am-1pm and the receptionist who worked that day was absolutely lovely and really helpful when we asked questions.
