Here you can find fantastic reference material in specialist areas, from newspapers and manuscripts to journals and digital collections. Anything unavailable online can be found in the Reading Rooms. There are often free exhibitions which are always really well done. With such a variety of subjects, you'll be sure to find an interest in some. The only thing that knocked off one star from my rating was when I obtained a Reader Pass. I was doing my dissertation and the process took over two hours despite me signing up online and bringing all necessary documentation. Their site states that the library doesn't often issue passes for anyone under 18, but that exceptions can be made. I was 18 at the time and was told I wouldn't be allowed a pass, so there was a long conversation about it. They requested I put them through to my university to prove I was doing my dissertation. I'm not sure why they deemed me so untrustworthy. I received my pass in the end; I only persisted because 5% of my grade demanded I obtain one. Aside from that, it's a great place to study, research, and find material. It is the largest national library in the world in terms of its number of items catalogued.

Great place to study, all the staff are really lovely and good selection of food and drink available. Also water fountains in several locations which is really handy. However, there is little space if you go after 1pm. Also students, be warned! The food and drink here is not student price it is v expensive but good quality. You can however bring your own food and drink :)

Great place to study, work or, surprisingly, have lunch. There are reading rooms that are just for members, yet there is also enough space to do what you need to outside of them. For example, dedicated tables and sofas or chairs, or chairs with special desks. There’s also a great gift shop with cards, books and other little things that all could be “nerdy” gifts. Check out the exhibitions, there might be some cool ones. They change quite often, so once you visit again, you may see a different thing. The food in canteen and cafes is quite decent, with plant based milk for coffee and for a reasonable price. Especially, those places that are located inside the building. A quick bag check — and ta da, enjoy food discount(try second floor, it’s less crowded). It’s better to come in the morning to take the best place! Also be aware of sockets — some of them doesn’t work even if you switch them on. Check them before choosing a place.

Although there is limited access for the visitors or tourists, if you simply walk around it feels incredible. The treasures of British library in Sir John Ritblat: Treasure gallery is full of unbelievable collections of ancient documents. Photography prohibited inside. 😂. The king's library is also an wonder but restricted for visitors. Visitors are also not allowed inside many reading areas and manuscripts sections that created curiosity in me. Overall I spent lovely time roaming around the library.

We hadn’t planned on coming to this spot but had some extra time and were looking for something different to do. The treasures exhibit was incredible. So much history in one room. And it’s free! Arguably one of the most powerful exhibits I’ve ever seen. I strongly recommend making time for the British Library.
