We attended a candlelight concert during Easter, and it was a truly wonderful evening. I am a huge fan of this church, not just for the beautiful atmosphere, but for everything it stands for from its impressive social engagement to the world-class choir and orchestra. The music in this historic setting was a highlight of our trip. A must-visit in London!

St. Martin-in-the-Fields, an Anglican church, is located at the NE corner of Trafalgar Square in the City of Westminster, Central London. The church is situated right next to the National Gallery. The current Georgian style building was completed in 1726 and designed by the influential neoclassical architect 'James Gibbs'. The church's name originates from its medieval history when it was literally located 'in the fields', between the cities of London and Westminster. It features a prominent steeple and a classical portico with Corinthian columns, a clock tower, and a distinct spire. The church is famous for its regular concerts, including free lunchtime performances and evening candlelit series. It houses an atmospheric cafe in the crypt, which features original brick-vaulted ceilings. The bronze equestrian statue visible in the foreground of the square, in my picture, is that of King George IV, which was originally intended to sit atop Marble Arch but has been in Trafalgar Square since 1828. There has been a church on this site since at least the medieval period (referenced as early as 1222). It is famously known for hosting the first church service broadcast on the radio in 1924. Today, the church is a culturally vibrant hub known for hosting free lunchtime concerts, atmospheric candlelit evening performances, and a cafe located in its brick-vaulted crypt. Trafalgar Square fascinated me, in its vastness, comfortable spread out and fir being 'exactly' the way I had imagined it yo be. Glad I visited it in 2024 and perhaps another visit will definitely be OK for me soon enough, to cover that, which I could not do earlier.

St Martin-in-the-Fields was the ideal central London venue for our event.
