Novotel London City South, Blackfriars Suite

The hotel in general is nice and welcoming. Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable beds, nice dark curtains. The floor in the room was grubby, unfortunately. The layout of the bathroom area takes some getting used to. No light in the shower cabin unless you light up the whole room.

Family of three stayed four nights. Great, safe location for access to transportation and more. Only option for third sleeping was on the futon/sofa bed, but my son didn’t complain of any discomfort and they had made the bed up for us in advance of checking in. Appreciated the air con, the mini fridge, the refillable water taps in the lobby (including sparkling!), and the pizzas from downstairs were perfect for a lazy last meal of the trip. If your family needs more “bathroom privacy” just be aware of the more open-plan nature of the toilet, shower, and sink. This didn’t bother us particularly, but might be an issue for some! My only complaint was the state of the rainfall showerhead. I couldn’t bring myself to use it, as it was heavily mildewed and caked with hard water. Luckily the shower provided multiple options! Also, be aware of the room next to the fitness center. One evening we had to listen to an over eager weightlifter, and repetitive dumbbells dropping heavily on the floor. Overall fine stay with lovely staff.

Convenient stay at the Novotel. Well located within walking distance from London Bridge and Borough Market with plenty of restaurants. Room was quite nice with nice view, at least the one I had. Breakfast is alright, not the best I had but it’s not terrible neither. Staff is a mixed bag, some were friendly, some got the wrong job or had a bad day. Overall, it’s a decent place to stay, but for a 4-star hotel I’d expect more.
